Awesome or Awful | Orly Nail Polish

PRODUCT REVIEW | NAILS
By Huda Heidi Kattan

I don’t know if started when I was younger, but I know that since I can remember, I loooove getting my nails done! Even if it is me at home doing them myself, I love it when my nails are perfectly shaped, cuticles cut, with a gorgeous color on each finger. Since I have tried a good couple of dozen of nail polishes, which means I am SUPER pickey with what nail polish I use! The other day I was getting my nails done, and the salon I was using had stocked up on Orly Nail polish, so I thought this product was worth doing a review. The truth about Orly Nail polish is while they have awesome colors, the nail polish is not a good one for long lasting wearability. The formula of Orly makes it a bit on the rubbery side, which means after a day or two, it starts peeling like those 20 cent nail polishes you would use as a child. So, for me, unless I want to kiss my nail polish good bye after the first day, it’s not the best nail polish to use!

Hey Huda! When I apply nail color at home, I use OPI, and I quite like it. Lasts long and gives a good shiny look. What do you think about it?

    • Hi baby! In my opinion, OPI is not bad, although it is not my favorite. My favorite thing about OPI are the colors, but with regards to formula, but for me, it’s nothing out of this world

  2. I agree, I use Orly LUXE in Gold and it gives a minx-look to the nails but it peels after one day! So annoying. The Orly top coat doesn’t help either.

    • It always peels!! Sooo annoying!!
      PS, loooooving your blog!! <3

Well, on my hands, I find the Orly lasts 3-4 days max for me. I have it on right now. It lasts longer on feet, definitely a week for sure. The basecoat for Orly works great. I guess it lasts or works differently for everyone. Orly wouldn’t be too happy with this Blog post! Ha ha. Maybe they will work to better their nail polishes if one of them is reading this! So, which nail polishes DO u find have great lasting power?

Huda, your amazing! I was just wondering about this brand of polish the other day!! It’s like youreadmy mind haha. Thank you!!! Do you have any recommendations for long lasting polish at a good price??
    Love your blog!!! <3

    • Aww!! You’re cute! I really love Revlon for a great polish at a great price! For mid range, I love Essie and Nail Station. For luxury brands, I love NARS, YSL and Dolce & Gabbana, but I don’t like Chanel at all! The colors are amazing in Chanel, but the formula takes forever to dry and can very often get sticky, for the price and the name, that just should NOT happen!

What is your favorite nailpolish to use?

    • Honestly for the price, I really love Revlon! They have been my favorite for years and I love the colors!

  6. I totally agree!! I have a nude one and I need almost 4 coats to get an opaque color and even with these 4 coats it still get peeled very fast..

For me it has to be Ciaté all the way, its super cute, the colours are fashion forward and they are better for the nails than other polishes. Love them x

I usually use Berry M love the colours and they have a minx collection which is awesome! Revlon is my second best! :)

Where can I buy Orly nail polish in Melbourne ?

I just bought my first Orly polish last night, I have never used it before and now I am not sure if I want to try it, but I couldn’t resist the color it is a pinky orangey coral called Passion Fruit. I typically use Revlon, OPI, and I am Amazed by my one bottle of YSL

  11. I found it very interesting reading the comments! I have been the professional beauty industry for 40+ years and have seen a lot of polishes come and go. I am an author, spa consultant and educatore- http://www.kyronspaconsulting.com I find orly one of the best poilishes on the market- I get my pedicure once a month and it stays on!!!! Passion fruit is one of my favourites. There are specific reasons why polish does not stay on- so I would suggest you try use some of those strategies before blaming the polish- just a suggestion.

  12. My Orly usually stays on 3-5 days… I’m not sure why your’s didn’t. It might be the salon. If you don’t ask for a new bottle you get watered down polish. They do that so it last longer and they save money that way. That could be the reason. (Just sayin’). You should purchase your own bottle and review it.

Personally I LOVE Orly, and their top 2 bottom coat is to die for IMHO.
