This is What Fashion Week Does to Models’ Feet!

Eeek! Is the first word that comes to mind when I see this picture of a model’s foot during Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 fashion show. It’s pretty alarming, but I can only imagine what her feet have been through physically! I’ve always been a fan of heels, like seriously, I loooove shoes! They are my fetish along with sunglasses, but wearing heels too often can cause a ton of issues not only for your feet, but also your back, legs, and spine! I can’t tell you how many times I have heard of women who need to get surgery for their feet because they have grown bunions and can barely walk–NOT hot!!! It makes me wonder why do we torture ourselves?
I feel so bad for models who are forced to cram their feet into seriously hard-to-walk in shoes and do this day after day for weeks! I was pretty shocked that Louis Vuitton show allowed these girls to go out with their feet being in completely bad shape! What do you guys think? Check out the pic below that shows you what heels do to our spine, it’s interesting! Remember to take a break as often as possible!

omg this is SO sad and yuck! poor models
This is so sad! The torture their put through is ridiculous
OMG so disgustingg!! that put me off heels for now
Thats really bad although luved the shoes x_x
Its “EW” !! But,
What can we do ?!
Im sorry but models are not “forced” to walk in those shoes, they do it because it is their job and it is their job because they want it to be
of course they’re not darling, please don’t take everything on my blog too literal Xxx
wow omgg that’s crazy… I feel bad for the models i can’t believe LV would allow them to go out like that. If any model has a problem of that sort they need to give their feet a rest and check with a doctor that’s not normal or healthy.
BY the wayyyy did you meet KIM K yet?
omg it looks so painful! they are bruised and discolored like a bad steak! people will do anything for money…or LV.

why this model have foots like homeless junkie? sometimes I walk few kilometers per day, specially in vacations and my feet is bleeding, but anyway its looks much more better, because if this model scrub her feet at least couple times per week it will not look so disgusting.
I am impressed with your comments and observations.
As an experienced Trauma & orthopaedic Surgeon ( last 6 Months in Foot & Ankle Firm) i have not only seen majority of problems like Bunions in female but hardly any male patients. Almost all of my patients were females in late 40/50s paying price of shoes worn in younger years.
Is it the woem, men or society to be blamed to expect this of women. Beauty with out Heels! We need to take this message around the globe.
All I can say is LV must be paying these ladies some really good money to be willing to tolerate that much foot pain! It most certainly looks like some of them need to go to the Podiatrist ASAP! I’d possibly do it for a nice LV Bag myself though! Lol
A lot of them wounds would be in walking in too small heels because models have to force their feet into whatever size they give them. VERY PAINFUL
I hope they have some hot bulky male model to give them foot massages!
my feet hurt just by looking at these photos! terrible
Ouch, ouch, ouch and it’s not just models – it’s all people who wear uncomfortable/othapedic friendly shoes. Our feet are soooo important and yet people risk them everyday for the sake of looking pretty and it’s not just the feet – the whole skeleton. Who really wants their walking (ankles, knees, shins, hips, lower back, neck and shoulders) impaired for the sake of a few inches in height. It’s basically like a slower version of bone breaking and re-adjusting – except the pain isn’t as bad in one go but lasts a lifetime. People need to think about what they’re sacrificing and need to remember it doesn’t just happen to other people.
oh my god.
i hope you iced them up
original post for foot traumatology !
Oh dear god, you are right in questioning why women put themselves through pure torture by wearing insanely high heels. Although, I really shouldn’t be the one to talk considering I have a love affair with heels. I always say the higher the better. At the same time, I don’t wear heels constantly so I guess that I wont experience the same degree of physical detriment as these models… but it makes you think if it is all worth it.
I agree, its horrible. I also was told by my doctor to stay away from wearing heels
Oh no! And I thought my runner blisters were bad!
oh my – I totally have a shoe problem – don’t even want to know about what it does! Luckily, I take lots of shoe breaks, so bring on the funky heels – there are still fun! Just keep the sensible ones in my purse for when I have to hit the pavement! Or better yet – barefoot recuperation on the beach! http://www.anitamacphotos.wordpress.com/2011/10/20/happy-feet/ A little evidence of heel recuperation!
This is just sad. As bad as my feet can hurt from breaking in a new shoe at times. There is no way I would put my feet through this. It’s like begging to wear the big Velcro shoes later in life..I’ll Pass
Hey there, I was looking at your post and it although seems painful to what happens to there feet. I find it hard to have sympathy because of they fact that they chose to do this and take the pain. Which has always seemed strange to me. Also I was curious as to how this could be fixed or changed? What can people do about the damage to their feet? and is it similar to injuries caused in ballet? Thanks.
