RED HAIR UPDATE!!

28Jan12

Ok My Darlings!!!

Soooo a few weeks ago I asked you guys to help me decide whether or not I was going to dye my hair red! I had gotten a box of Wella’s Foaming awesome fire-red hair color and was VEEERY tempted to dye my hair Rihanna Red:) It was actually really funny watching the poll! Every time you guys said ‘yes’, I was like, “OMG, do I really want to do this?!!!” and then every time the ‘no’ started to increase I was thinking, “What the heck, I’m going to do it anyways, it’s going to be awesome!” As you can tell, I am soooo indecisive! Sometimes I can’t decide between sparking and still water (it honestly runs in my family)!

Since the poll, I have had recurring dreams where I colored it red and it looked amazing! Sometimes they were highlights, other times completely red! Honestly, I am still not sure about it right now, but reading your comments, especially the ones that said red hair is hard to remove (I actually heard this before, but hearing it over and over again was quite scary), just freaked me out! I’m going to hold off for the time being, but don’t be surprised if I do end up changing it!

Since, soooo many of you guys said I should change my hair, what do you guys honestly think would suit me, my skin tone, face shape, etc? Seriously? I’m not sure if I will run to hair dresser right away, but I am curious to know what you guys would do with my hair if you were me, especially since there were many girls who said I could use a change (which is probably true)? And please don’t say chop it off! I did that in fourth grade and it is NOT a good look for me!

The picture above is NOT real!! I just wanted to see how it would look!

  1. I think you should go for it but it you have to change your hairstyle too !

  2. 2 Hafsa Issa-Salwe

In my honest opinion, I don’t think hair that bright wouldn’t suit you, I reckon you’re more of a dark haired gal! If you would go red, I’d really recommend a very deep red if not then the shade Myriam Fares has in this photo http://www.fanoos.com/ia/myriam_fares.jpg

  3. 3 effie_terz

try it in this site http://www.taaz.com/ . u can color your own hair! :) )

  4. 4 Sandra

Red would look funky but as you heard it is very hard to remove. I love your current hair color but if you feel like a change then I would recommend you try the dark Ash tones or rich browns. I’m an expert since I’ve tried all the colors available out there LOL so I wouldn’t recommend anything too light as your eyebrows are thick and dark. Good luck Huda ;) can’t wait to see your new hair color :D

  5. 5 Hilal

no red please..you are great in your present hair colour:)

  6. 6 Kanika

    Pls… For god sake… A bigggg NOoooo
    U r absolutely butiful d way u r:))))

  7. NO! and it will be a nightmare to maintain. Black is much nicer!

  8. 8 Kayla

    Huda,
I once did a dark color and the top and a bright red as my tips. It came out amazing. I think something like this would look great on you !!!

  9. 9 rana

you live once, if you want to do something then do it still why you are youthful, would not be suiting if you were 70 :)

    • OMG!! hahaha

  10. it looks nice! but i suggest a bit deeper, like rihanna in here, i think she has deeper red lowlights done? http://www.hairextensionskent.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Rihanna-long-red-hair11.jpg

  11. 12 Tayyaba

Get fire red extension highlights underneath ur hair

    • I had them in a dream and they were really pretty! I’m considering this the most! :)

  12. 14 Patricia

Do It!! I think you could soo pull it off and anyway being a stylist I can tell you a woman ALWAYS needs a change once in a while with their hair!! You have a beautiful face so it so doesn’t matter what color your hair is anyway!!! xoxo

  13. i LOVED Rihanna in Red and would totally do it but I’m finding it hard to let go of my pink hair lol. I think you would look cool with it esp if you got bangs, if you’re really obsessing about it but still hesitant why don’t you try an alternative like dip dye with red or just one streak of red?

  14. I think that chocolate brown would look great on you… Red is not bad but it looks a bit extreme here. But really, you look beautiful no matter what :)

  15. 17 Deb

NO! nyet! Nien! and any other way one can say it… LOL..it’s funny as I was sitting here once again contemplating what it would be like to have long, lustrous dark hair (yup…I’m blonde..:~) like yours and lo and behold this post came through… so I have to add my 2 cents… your hair is perfect as is!!!!

  16. After seeing the picture, I am so convinced that this is not going to be a good idea. Sowwy…but just being honest. You are a beautiful girl and this somehow takes too much away from your pretty face and draws attention in a not so good way. Change is good – if its for the better not just for the heck of it. You could go a dark red like Sharon Osborne perhaps.
or for highlights and that would be a “change” too. Hope you wont get mad at me :)

  17. 19 Melissa

If you want to be daring, I say go for it! You may be surprised! If not, maybe try a darker shade of red, not so vibrant! Or gradually work your way up and start with some highlights first! I also think a rich copper or warm chocolate brown hues would look beautiful on you if you don’t want to get dramatic with it =). Everytime I MAKE myself go for a dramatic cut, it ALWAYS turns out better than I had imagined and gives me the “Oh, yeah. Look at me” attitude for the next week =) No matter what you decide you will still be just as gorgeous! ♥

  18. you only live once. DO IT! you could always change it back and i think it’s fabulous. miss you huda!!!

  19. 21 Mary Monroe

lolll I’m also indecisive haha the pic above is funny I’m thinking ok she really didn’t do it. I do think you should change up the color but nothing dramatic I suggested before that you could do a darker red if you really want to do a red color… or maybe you can lighten up your hair to a brown but not too light I think dark hair suits you best. It’s always refreshing to change it up. I’m thinking of dying my hair it’s actually a dark brown..I’m thinking of doing the same color with a reflection of a dark auburn color. :-)

  20. 22 Rania

I don’t think it would turn out that bright … that photo of u is making us all think u should keep it black. I’ve used wella before… i remember it was red…. it looked amazing ! Red on black hair is always beautiful…it won’t be as bright as the photo above of u though :) . It is hard to get out….once u dye over it with a dark brown dye…it covers well but after it fades, it becomes more of a chestnut brown (which isn’t that bad).

  21. 23 Paige

My hair is currently red and has been for some time now. I have had varying shades and brightness, from highlights to full on all over red. It is not hard at all to get rid of, the opposite is actually true. It fades quickly and will drip if you leave your hair wet after washing for the first few weeks. However, it is addicting and makes it hard to go to a different color.

*Hint: my hairdresser did a red rinse over the dye and it stayed much longer!

  22. 24 Rania

Why don’t u use L’oreal casting creme gloss (in “berry red”), It only lasts up to 28 washes, it’s temporary and no ammonia too ;) . Just as a test to see if you would like to go red with wella :)

  23. 25 Shamma

NO FOR RED pleease if you love me ;)

  24. 26 mitsa

    Huda,
I personally think it would look really nice on you. I have black hair and i have colored i red before and honestly since your hair is so dark rich black color your hair will not be that red of a color. unless you strip your hair and then add the red that is when you will look like what you look like on this picture, other wise since your hair is soooo black anyways, the red color will not be this fire red, it will be more dark tone red. I have done this from personal experiences and so I know how red it can it. I think people are forgetting that Black color is more dominate then red, or brown.

  25. 27 Leila

I love red Hair! I like this colour:
http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&gl=nl&site=images&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=ZzEjT4rAI5Kp8APqtcziBw&ved=0CC8QBSgA&q=cheryl+cole+red+hair&spell=1&biw=320&bih=405#i=25. I want also colour my Hair. Xx

  26. 28 Hinna

Huda dnt diye ur hair red..black hair suits u…n if u want som change than why red?try some other color….

  27. 29 Mariam

Have you ever thought of ombre hair? =)

  28. 30 Suz

Umm you look beautiful with black hair-it suits you. I think people who are telling you to change are just trying to see if you would look bad. It sounds crazy but its true. I have always gotten compliments on my hair but I would have a lot of girls say “go short” when in the meantime they are trying to get their hair to my length. Go with your own instinct!

  29. 31 Sumaiyah

I think a deep red would look beautiful with a little black in it too. I also think you also have to change your hairstyle, but I’m sure the deep red would work.

  30. 32 betsy

Just reminded me of the pink highlights from back in the day =) red highlights w curly hair!

  31. 33 buthaina

    Hey Huda,

Honestly, Black looks much better with your face.. I don’t know but when I see the picture I feel that it doesn’t pop ur nice face features.

  32. 34 Maca

Umm pls no! And my hubs is begging you no! He went uni with you, he saw the photo on my laptop and he said i know this girl! He also said what did she do to her hair?!?! :p

  33. Your head your hair, if it makes u happy go for it ! but i feel black hair makes you realy “pop” with red hair you are kinda lost ! but with your fiery personality I am sure you will make it work with highlights or a diff cut etc !

    xoxo

  34. 36 zuhra

try it for a change. and if u dont like, u can always go back to black hair.

  35. 37 Hend

NOOOOO dont. Go for another color. Red is a pain to remove and it only looks good the first couple of weeks then it starts to fade. Really it is a pain to remove from your hair and you’ll get bored of red. And red hair and a bare face doesn’t look good at all. Definitely go for a new hair look but not red!!! :(

  36. 38 Maryam

    NOoooooooo not @ all …..

  37. 39 xarah

no, pls dont do it…color it brown, but not red, coz red is the most difficult color to strip off

  38. 40 Hend

Black suits you very well, But I think dark ash brown will look amazing on you for the spring/summer season, with some very subtle highlights !
why don’t you try a long/medium length bob ?! like the new Jennifer Aniston hair cut ?!

  39. 41 Dr Muna

Huda, you are beautiful in any hair color! Don’t be afraid to change it. I change my hair color ALOT! You can always go back to your original hair color with the help of a hairdresser. Plus those at-home hair coloring kits don’t change your hair color much, you always get a darker shade as on the box, especially if you start with very dark hair. Have fun with it ;-)

  40. 42 angelique

OH MY GOSH HUDA DONT DO IT! i love your dark hair color, me and a few of my friends faithfully follow your blog lol and we all think you shouldnt do it! red hair doesnt color coordinate with outfits well! but you are the one to experiment and find out so i dont know lol

  41. 43 Tata

Hi Huda…sweetheart to be honest with you, it does not suit you in my opinion…however what you could do is to get red highlights…since your own hair is super black it would look really good…but plz plz plz don dye all your hair in red…if I was you, I would not do anything to my hair…for me healthy hair is more important than a hair with nice color…

  42. 44 Zaara khan

Oh hey babe, red hair doesn’t suits u at all but anyways he This is a fake picture!

  43. 45 Zaara khan

    hey*

  44. hi babe ,
i think DARK red will look awsome on you but will need to be little tanned cos red workd well on either pale skin color or tanned skin, sort of matte tanned face with nude lip n liner eyed look “you know wat i mean” :)

i love love love ur bolg and youtube channel, ur 1 of my inspirer

  45. 47 julia

OH MY GOD THE RED IS SO AMAZING IN THIS PICTURE! :O do it huda! do it!

  46. 48 miSsyUAE

you TOTALLY should go for it !! omg you want to color it so bad and you still ask us …. ! I’m sure you will take a good care of it and you will get new hair as well in someday ( new growing hair). Huda just go for it and enjoy !! :D cuz if you don’t , then u’ll think about it all the time !! gud luck !

  47. 49 Lou

I would recommend a deep red or a plum colour as these are easy to maintain. In terms of removal why not have a tint which will wash out eventually and again doesn’t look bad when through roots grow out. I currently have a red tint Goldwell Garnet that I have been wearing for nearly two years.

I don’t think hair colour really goes out of fashion it should like make up suit you.

  48. 50 Amanie

a chocolate brown or any brown would look great on you :)

  49. 51 tara

    Dear Huda,
I say NO as well! Black hair is so majestic and not everyone can pull it off! I think red would look a little fake and wouldn’t really suit ur skin tone. Good luck with whatever you do, juts remember that something close to ur natural colour will always suit you better!

  50. 52 Fatma Mad

Get a red wig instead :-p at least it wont damage ur hair n ull get to try out red hair n get ur dreams out of ur system

  51. Hi Huda :)
I don’t think that color suits your skin tone. That red shade wears you, its not like your wearing it, if you know what I mean. I would suggest you go for another shade of red or perhaps chocolate brown. I see you as a brunette and not a red head. But whatever your choice is…good luck!

  52. I really , REALLY think you should ombre it !
Its not that risky and It really will suit you !

  53. 55 luna

I think you would look 10 years younger with the red :)

  54. 56 monica

oh no huda…pls dont do it. ur baby may not even recognize u. u look so beautiful this way.

  55. 57 LaydeeinBlack

huda ur face is a work of art mashaAllaah. u’ll look hot woteva ur hair colour :) xoxo

  56. 58 Adriana

NOOOOO huda!!!! Your hair is perfect the way it is.. you are gorgeous the way you are with the dark brown, i think that it suits you well since you have dark features!!! DONT DO IT especially since once you wash your hair it will become orange!!!

  57. 59 maryam

    Hey Gorgeous,

I think you are much sexier with black…
    much love

  58. 60 Reema

Stay true to your roots baby!!!!!

  59. 61 Allie

I say deff don’t do the red. You’re a gorgeous girl and one of the reasons why I trust you so much when it comes to beauty is because of the fact that you’re just so natural, You look goregeous just the way you are but if you really want a change than try something natural like a dark chocolate brown and maybe add some layers.

  60. 62 nicolemarie

    Huda!!<3
I think that both the colour of red and your natural colour look very good on you! they both compliment your features. the natural colour brings out your eyes and the red brings out your lips and your natural blush!! i think that colour of red would look ravishing on you for a change and you most definitely have the connections to keep the colour looking rich and newly coloured!
    Either way you look fabulous!!
    <3 <3

  61. 63 Arwa

Deeeeeeeeeep red would look goregous on u
I mean really deep red!( black with a touch of redness) OR brown, also dark. In general, I think darker shades suits u better than light shades.

  62. 64 Asma

If I wr u, I wont touch my hair……I love ur black hair length and thickness”….. It suits u soooooo gooooooooodddd….

  63. 65 giga

I think you should stay with your color, because that type of red doesn’t look natural and I think that the more natural the woman looks the more beautiful she is. Besides that I think that when you are with dark skin you should be with dark hair that combination looks amazing.

  64. I think red would really suits your skin color and eyes!! Red really looks good on people with brown eyes. Search for Ariana Grande she has the perfect red hair that i really think would suit you and the only way to get a rihanna bright red is if you bleach your hair but if you apply the hair dye on dark hair it will only have a red sheen that will make your dark hair pop and look more alive, vibrant and with a redish tint. You don’t have to bleach it cause if you always dye your hair with the red shade it will eventually turn that red maybe not as bright but it WILL BE RED!
I have always bleached, dyed my hair every color possible from red, purple, pink, blue, brown, black, blond and i still have hair on my head even now i am rocking a pixie cut. I used to have long hair like you and people always used to tell me that i was going to be bald but my hair was pretty healthy despite how i used to dye it so just make sure you take care of it and you will be done. Your still young so just rock it you can always dye it dark again so no one would even notice you had red hair! :) Go for it!

    http://www.stylebistro.com/lookbook/Ariana+Grande/-RWrRA6JCuv/Hair

  65. 67 jess

PLEASE dont dye it red!!! Just dont !! jet black suits u so well, why not just keep it!?!?! honestly, the rihanna red trend is dying and its so over rated!! dont die it red, or any other color in fact, just keep it the way it is :)

  66. Not keen on the red hair idea, I think Rihanna is probably one of the only people that can pull it off and look absolutely gorgeous. I think you are stunning just the way you are

  67. It looks amazing on you and as you’re brunette it’ll be easier to change back, rather than if you were naturally blonde.

You’re pretty enough to pull it off, but your darker hair is very beautiful anyway.

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tribe-of-Mannequins/199696716792980

  68. 70 marionette

I wouldn’t do it. I’m sure, that this trend will pass in a few months or even less. Overall I think, that red hair suits best to those who have green eyes for example. Change is good, but in this case I personally think, that it’s not worth it. The black head really suits you best!!

  69. I don’t know the red doesn’t look that bad but then again I am no fashionista. You are a very pretty young lady either way.

  70. I’ve had red hair for most of my adult life and I love it but I’m really fair with green eyes. It is a nightmare to remove though and the upkeep is quite annoying.
