PRODUCT REVIEW | SKINCARE

By Huda Heidi Kattan

Yes, I am a beauty lover, but since I became a makeup artist, I look at EVERYTHING differently! Especially once you’ve worked in the industry, you start to notice CRAZY things like jaw sagging, facial disproportion, lines, pigmentation, hallows–yup enough things to make you go insane! OF COURSE, I try not to get too obsessed since I truly do believe that a little flaw here and there adds super character and exoticness! HOWEVER, sagging skin is NOT the flaw I am looking for! This is one of those flaws that happen as you age, not something you were born with and those flaws I try to keep to a minimal! So when I first saw the Strivectin Facial Sculpting Cream, I jumped for joy!

Ok, sooooo after using this product for only 3 days I NOTICED:

My skin instantly DID become more firm, hydrated and my jaw and cheek bones were more defined (as promised on the label). I did notice my skin looked slightly more radiant and it just felt better. Now what I also noticed that scared the bejesus out of me was huge cystic acne forming as well as small pimples popping up! I know my skin is pretty sensitive, but I’ve learned that using salicylic acid with new products keeps breakouts to a minimum since I am ALWAYS trying new products, but it really didn’t help! This product is actually really amazing but the fact that I broke out so bad was really SUUUUCH a shame!

Who should use this:

I think this is one of those products that actually IS for women who are older I would say in their 40′s onwards, unless you have skin that is really immune to breakouts and needs serious hydrating, I wouldn’t use this. I did love the sculpting, but it’s so rich, I don’t think it’s for women under the age of 35.

Wow, good tip! I have the Stivectin’s eye cream and I gotta say, it is SO greasy!

I can’t find your formspring so I’ll ask you here: I am in my early 20′s, with combination skin, of mixed descent (Pilipino & American) and my right eye is starting to get that Lady Gaga/Paris Hilton droop. I read that squinting will cause this, which totally makes sense for me because I lost my glasses about 6 months ago & absent-mindedly never replaced them.

Aside from the obvious – get some contacts & stop squinting – what would you suggest to slow down the aging process that the ever-so evil force of gravity has accelerated? There are soooo many authorities on skin care & aging & longevity, it makes my head spin! Where should I start?

Facial yoga seems like a bad idea to me.. Some swear by it, others swear off it.. What do you think? All that stretching of skin to “tone” muscles seems like it’d just add to the problem, especially when it seems that my problem has actually stemmed from the exertion of facial muscles.

Then there’s Paula Begoun, claiming that a well formulated face cream will do everything an eye cream claims to, and also not to waste any money on collagen infused products because they’re gimmicks. Any validity to these statements, or just another “expert” carving a market for herself like the rest of us?

And of course, there’s the traditional methods… Any tips on which have worked best for you in the past? I get dark circles under the eye as well…..All I know is that the skin above my right lid is drooping and causing the hoods of my eyelids to appear uneven and I’m getting pretty self-conscious about it. What do I do?!?!!?!??
