Should Makeup Ads be Banned?

It’s kind of crazy because brands spend MILLIONS of dollars on these ads, and some of them just get kicked to the curve! I’m not sure how I personally feel about the over-photoshop allegations that land most of these ads banned, but I DEFINITELY believe if a ad is not representing a product right, it should be banned. At the same time, I’ve worked behind the scenes for brands and TRUST me, most of the products they use are NOT from the brand and if it’s an ad for mascara you better believe there are some insanely long false lashes there to really “show” off how great the mascara is. No matter what brand it is, they use whatever products they want, from the brand and not from the brand! So if everyone is doing this, should beauty ads just be banned all together? I love that Makeup Forever Ad that came out years ago that had no photoshop! I’m sure they still used a mix of products, but at least the photoshop was out!

I am not sure what to really say about this, its just like “Celeb MUA’s” in magazines, blogs and other forms of advertising talking about what products went into “creating the face”, tho some products, if not most are what they use, they either edit their version of doing the “step by step” or they don’t tell you exactly everything that was used, most of them will list the dept/drug store products and disregard the theater makeup/HD makeup that PRO MUA’s use that actually get the proper finish… Its False Advertising/Promoting either way.. for basically everyone involved- i.e. the magazine, the celebrity, the products, and the MUA all get paid :S
I don’t think ads should be banned, as someone who works within beauty and the marketing/PR side of it, no advertisements would be detrimental for a brand however I do believe that brands must be honest with the consumer. You can’t have fake lashes in an ad which is advertising a mascara, no mascara whatsoever will give you such long lashes so I don’t like it when brands try to fool us like that.
L’Oreal recently did an ad for a new mascara of theirs with Cheryl Cole and there were no falsies used, just mascara and you could see how it worked on Cheryl and it was so refreshing to see!
Honestly, I think it’s gotten to the point where we know it at the back of our heads that the ads are unreal. Mascara commercials can never be taken seriously. We all know our eyelashes will never look that way by applying Mascara X to it.
i luv to know her Color and Brand of Foundation> Anyone?
The post is describing if the makeup ads should be banned. Useful information
The past is asking if the makeup ad should be banned. Know all about it
Wow, I knew false lashes were used but to not even use the actual products advertised?! That’s crazy & they should so be banned for it.
I don’t think they should be banned. They are for the people to get aware of the various products and so they can atleast get to know about the products.
