PRODUCT REVIEW | HUDA PICKS

By Huda Heidi Kattan

I don’t care where you’re from or where you learned to do makeup, somewhere along the line every woman falls in love with eyeliner! It just makes you look awake, trendy and it really gives your face character! Every time I go sans liner, I always hear from at least ONE person, “Gee Huda, you look tired today.” Along with concealer and mascara it’s hands down one of my must haves at all times, even if it’s just a smudge!

So having said that, there is definitely a lot of really crappy eyeliners out there pretending to be good ones. We all know most of those liners, but what about the ones that are AhhhhMAZING? The ones that after you use you say “OMG! I can’t wait to tell my girlfriends about this!” The ones that make you feel a little more beautiful just because you know it ROCKS! Well, I definitely have tried my fair share (maybe a little more like a hundred or so) and these are my absolute TOP liners just for you fabulous people! Which Ones are Your Favorite (on or off the list)?!!

My Ultimate Gel Liner

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner
My absolute FAV! This is one that I know will stay put, and give me that seriously dark line! I love it, but it definitely takes a little time to apply since you have to use a brush! It goes on sooo smooth and surprisingly easy to use, especially for a cat eye! This to me is sooo much better than MAC Gel Liner (which dries and becomes icky) as well as Bobbi Brown’s Gel Liner since it is less than half the costs with 100% all the same qualities (It actually stays on a little longer).

The Mattest Liner Ever

Clarins Instant Liquid Liner
This is one is a MUST if you wear false lashes! I love this because it goes on the blackest EVER and dries matte, so it looks so dramatic! You can actually see the line from a distance and it looks amazing on! The only thing I don’t like, but it’s actually a BIG bummer is that it is sooooooo easy to remove with water that if your eyes water at all, the liner will completely wash away! I only use this on top of my lashes to hide the glue, it’s just too moveable to wear all over the eye!

Best for Beginner Cat Eye

Lancome Art Liner
Ok, for every woman out there who really wants to do a cat/winged liner, but can’t, this one is pretty awesome! The felt tip is quite long so it makes it really simple to use! It really is like using a pen and makes application incredibly easy, flawless and FAST! I use this when I’m on the go and don’t have time to spend using different liners! It’s also really dark, but dries glossy! It’s also a great one to keep in your bag! It lasts pretty long as well (doesn’t move when wet), but it’s not one I would imagine to stay on from morning until night without reapplying since it can crack a little, but you really only need to reapply once!

The long lasting Dark Pencil Liner

Revlon Grow Luscious
Everyone has their preference, whether it be liquid, gel or pencil and since I bounce around, my absolute favorite pencil liner. I was really shocked when I used it, but it’s amazing! It applies soooo dark and really smooth and easy! I also love that it literally doesn’t budge (after a few seconds to dry). You can smudge it, but only immediately after you apply, but it’s soooooo dark and really velvety! It actually looks very expensive on, but the only thing is you can go through this liner super fast! It kind of melts on to your skin after you apply it and you constantly need to sharpen it! It kind of reminds me of MAC’s Smolder just one that doesn’t budge as easy once it dries to your skin! Over all it’s great, but you just have to keep a sharpener close by!

Favorite Color Liners (Inner Rim)

Chanel Liners
Chanel Liners are honestly some of my favorite over all! They seem to go on very smooth, blend well, last very long and have great pigment! I also like the fact that you can get them in the Aqua Pencil which means it is an automatic sharpening pencil as well as the Eye Khol, which is my favorite for inner rim (Blanc and Gold). They just have quality liners!

I love the bobbie brown gel liner but I’m deff going to purchase the maybelline one since you have been mentioning it lately.. I also want to give the revlon eye liner a try i’ve heard great things about it.

I use the Estée Lauder double wear stay-in-place eye pencil.. It works good but the color isn’t a deep dark black, rather a black that has a dark blue color to it.

Ohhh! I haven’t tried the Estee Lauder liner, but I def will! :)

My all times fav eyeliner is Chanel’s LIGNE EXTREME LIQUID EYE LINER, which will be relaunched soon I hope. It’s the smoothest, mattest, and blackest eye line I’ve ever tried. You should give it a try, really.

I bought the Clarins one after you mentioned it and i absolutely loved it! The only downside is for me, it only lasted for 3 months. And i really miss it now! I’m using a cheaper one and feel the difference, but I don’t really want to buy an eyeliner all 3 months. Do you know anything similar to it??

    Love your blog!!!

Eye-liner was the first piece of make up I used to a family function, where an older cousin applied it on me, I loved it. It was the first make up article I learned to use, I owned, and till date when I wear it I feel special and sexy! Love your recommendations. Thanks!!

Hi Huda, I love the Revlon one to! Can you let me know what is the best combination of body oil and perfume to have as you discussed in one of your earlier posts :-) Also my boss has gone to the Far East, I live in London, and have asked him to get the Olay Brightening Serum for me as you recommended! Any other products I should ask him to get that are only available outside of London? xx LOVE YOU!

  10. You should try the wet and wild one’s, its an intense black, and really creamy, so you can draw easily.

I’m not a huge fan of the Maybelline liner, I find that it dries up too fast for me but it’s a great alternative to Bobbi Brown’s eyeliner. I also love the L’Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim which comes in a pen form and makes it SO easy to create flicks.

My favourite pencil eyeliner is INIKA in Black Caviar; it has almond oil and some other natural ingredients so it has this beautiful, waxy texture which applies perfectly. Another brand I like is NARS, their Larger Than Life liners come in interesting colours like Bourbon Street which is a deep purple I think it’d really suit you Huda :)

i have the MAC gel liner but it wasnt the best gel liner. i thought it would be good seen as it was a product from MAC. but it shrunk and dried up which i was very dissappointed to see.

The Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner s my most favorite gel liner. It does not smudge at all.

  18. 21 Georgina

Hey Huda! Inlove with the maybeline gel liner also! I have a slight issue with liquid liners at times though, if I’m tired I find my liner smudges or moves out of place because of my eyes are abit swollen, if I’m not tired though it goes on perfect! Help please! :) xoxo

  20. 24 J.J

I like the line stiletto by maybeline. It’s really dark and the applicator is nice.

  21. what lipstick are you wearing? looks GORGEOUS!!

  22. You should give Milani 24hour liquid liner a try. It stays on forever and you’d need a good makeup remover to get it off but it is so dark and stays put. Its my new finding and i love it!

  23. 27 porscha

So which one do you have on in this picture???? its perfect!
    -Thanks
