If there was something super easy you could do to give your brain extra power and function, and help you drop a few extra pounds, you’d probably want to try it, right? That’s what I thought, so when I heard about Bulletproof Coffee, I had to try it. In case you didn’t know, I’m actually a bit of a nerd, I love reading (I try to read a book a week). Earlier this year I picked up a New York Times Bestseller called The Bulletproof Diet, a book about wellness, enhancing brain power, and becoming healthier both physically and mentally: It was fascinating – it’s like a whole other world of dieting – but that’s another story!
Although I still follow a lot of the practices from the Bulletproof diet, the one thing I found that made an incredible impact on my mind and body (and my waist!) was Bulletproof coffee. Bulletproof coffee is made using organic coffee, coconut oil, and grass-fed butter – I know, it sounds weird AF, bear with me! It basically makes the coffee much more potent and minimizes the risk of your brain and body crashing after a few hours. It also boosts your metabolic rate to help you lose weight, but most importantly it gives you amazing clarity and focus. The coconut oil balances your hunger hormones making you feel full, while the saturated fat in grass-fed butter slows the absorption of caffeine, which gives you a longer-lasting energy boost, instead of a spike of intense energy that usually (for me) ends in jitters and a crash of energy levels. It also improves mental clarity as the coconut oil converts to Ketones, an energy that your brain uses more efficiently than any other form, this combined with the slow release of coffee makes such a crazy difference, that you can just feel your brain working more powerfully.
I know, it sounds too good to be true, but I swear by it! I drink it probably three or four days a week on the days I really need to focus, otherwise, I drink green tea, which is also amazing for your skin, body, and focus.
How to make Bulletproof coffee: It’s super easy to make! Take two tablespoons of grass-fed butter and add one teaspoon of organic Coconut Oil (or the official Brain Octane Oil, which is basically a very high-quality coconut oil), and freshly brewed organic coffee and combine the ingredients in a blender for 20 seconds. Honestly, it tastes really good, and the blending process gives it a nice froth on top as well, like a latte. I really recommend that anyone try this; it’s super easy to make, inexpensive, and something I don’t see myself quitting anytime soon!
Not into drinking coffee? It’s great for your skin too! Try out our Bulletproof DIY body scrub: Combine one cup of ground organic coffee, one cup of brown sugar, and half a cup of melted organic coconut oil. You can store it in a tub and use two to three times a week. This makes such an invigorating, skin-softening scrub as the coconut oil is amazingly hydrating, coffee is full of antioxidants, and the brown sugar makes an amazing natural scrub.
