Like it or not, yellow is the eye makeup trend that’s here to stay for spring and summer. Popping up all over our Insta feed, on the runways, and in tons of eyeshadow palettes (including our Electric Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette) this bold pop of color is massively growing on us. But we’ll admit, it doesn’t necessarily seem like the easiest shade to wear, but actually, it is. Here’re are seven stunning ways you can wear eyeshadow to suit your style, skin tone, and makeup vibe.
YELLOW LINER: Go bold, be subtle, or get graphic; yellow liner is super versatile and easy to wear. We love the new Kylie Collection yellow gel liner – it’s the perfect pop of bright yellow for your lids and lash line.GET GLOSSY: Like yellow, gloss is also having its moment on our eyelids. We love how fresh and pretty the two trends combined look. To DIY your own yellow gloss first apply yellow eyeshadow all over the lid, and then gently dab a lip gloss on top. We love using the yellow shade from our Obsessions Electric Palette and combining it with our Lip Strobe in Posh. Eye glosses naturally aren’t long-wearing, so apply an eye primer first.
INNER CORNERS: Be dramatic with a vivid pop of yellow on your inner corner, natural makeup, and groomed brows or be subtle with pale yellow shades and sexy winged liner. Use our Melted Strobe formula from our Summer Solstice Highlighter Palette to make it pop.
WASH OF YELLOW: Yellow eyeshadow doesn’t have to be intense, we love the idea of wearing this subtly blended with a fluffy brush into the lid for a cool, understated daytime look.
MAKE A STATEMENT: Pack yellow on the lid, cut the crease with it, or use it as an intense stain all over your lid. Yellow looks amazing with gold detailing, blended with sunset tones (check out Natasha Denona’s gorgeous Sunset Palette), or simply paired with a winged line or white liner. To make it really stand out, use a white or nude eyeshadow first so the yellow pigment is more intense.LOWER LASH LINE: This is a really edgy, intriguing way of wearing yellow. Gently buff yellow into your lower lash line all the way along, or use a yellow pencil liner to line your water line and inner corner.
GOLDEN GLOW: If you’re still cautious about experimenting with yellow, use a gold shimmer to soften it. Start with yellow eyeshadow and then add gold glitter or shadow on top. Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt Highlighter in Trophy Wife is perfect for this look.
