If the name Chris Appleton doesn’t ring a bell, the glam tresses he styles on the reg and the iconic looks he’s created definitely will. So, get ready for some serious name dropping – yes, we’re referring to the most talked about celeb on the planet, Kim Kardashian, who has Chris on speed dial.
If you haven’t seen his coveted snatched ponies on his reg clients Ariana Grande and J-Lo (are you even on Instagram?), then you’ve for sure seen his glass hair look on almost every celeb worth following! Now you know the guy behind Kim K’s sleekest hairstyles and the glossy straight hair that’s been everywhere, here’re all his tips, hacks, and fave products for hair perfection – if he’s J-Lo’s go-to guy, we wanna know errrythang!

1. Chris, like so many creatives, not only has major skills but he also labels himself, as “an obsessive perfectionist,” which makes total sense, glass hair take a lot of patience to perfect.
2. He doesn’t do anything in half measures! Chris said “It’s all about making a point of difference by going to extremes. Pushing the limits. Taking something beautiful to a whole new level that’s extended, exaggerated.”
3. To make trends you need to try new things, and that’s why Chris is big into new hair technology that allows him to create never-before-achieved hairstyles. Chris told us that “If it weren’t for the polymer technology in Color Wow Dream Coat, $28, this super lush, expensive, immaculately shiny hair – that’s completely humidity-proof – just wouldn’t be possible.” We’re buying ours now.

We honestly don’t know how Chris could pinpoint his favorite look of all time, because we definitely can’t – although Ariana’s silver pigtails are definitely up there with Kim’s pink hair. For Chris, he told us his top three hairstyles include “the incredibly glossy, swishy dream (my first glass hair look), J-Lo’s sky-high 50-inch pony, and Kim’s icy platinum blond look with dark roots” Touché.

Always use heat protection: If you’ve always assumed heat protection is useless and it’s really just a marketing ploy, then let us tell you why it’s so important. The silicones in heat protection sprays act as a barrier, protecting the hair from damage while sealing in moisture. They also help fight against the damaging UV rays of the sun – so it’s kinda like sunscreen, but for your hair. Most sprays also contain vitamins and oils that will hydrate and feed your hair, leaving it shiny and most importantly, PROTECTED.
Sleep on a silk pillowcase: Ok, so we know this may sound like a boujee AF sleeping habit that’s only reserved for A-listers, but in the words of Kim K herself, bible – it’s not. Because cotton isn’t as fine as silk, it effectively grabs and twists your hair as you sleep, causing frizz.
