2018 has been a big year for nails. Thanks to Cardi B, long ballerina nails have made a major comeback, and with the extra length, comes extra surface area to play around with cool designs – like shattered glass nails. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Instagram’s latest obsession, shattered glass nails look as if they have teeny tiny pieces of glass sprinkled all over the nail. When the ‘glass’ catches the light, it creates a really cool holographic effect.

The best part is, shattered glass nails are really simple to do at home, and it looks amazing on all nail lengths. Dubai’s hottest nail boutique, The Dollhouse, showed us exactly how to do it, and for a shattered glass mani that withstands the test of time, they recommend using gel varnish and an LED curing lamp, but it also works perfectly with normal varnish. How To Do Shattered Glass Nails

For fierce AF shattered glass nails, you’ll need:

  • A base coat and top coat nail polish – you don’t need to use gel polish, any nail polish will work, but gel will last longer.
  • A nail color of your choice.
  • Reflective, holographic paper, which you can buy on Amazon, $9, or from a local stationery store.
  • If you want to do gel nails, you’ll also need a curing lamp (UV Lamp), $25.

Top tip: Use a tiny brush or a nail pick dipped in a little clear nail polish to easily pick up the pieces of shattered glass nails.
