Concealer is such a major part of a makeup routine; it can completely transform your face and make you feel so much more confident. I use concealer every day to cover pimples and brighten my under eyes, and I’m always on the lookout for the next best formula. Recently both Tarte and Too Faced re-released two of their concealer formulas, so of course, I had to test them!
Tarte, who created the iconic Shape Tape concealer, have repackaged their Maracuja Oil Creaseless Concealer so that it now has an applicator, which makes it much easier to use – it used to be in a squeezy tube. Too Faced have relaunched their Born This Way Concealer, which was a medium coverage concealer that came in 12 shades, and it’s now a full coverage concealer. Here’s what I thought, and how the two compared.
Tarte Creaseless Concealer, $26
What it is: A full coverage, waterproof undereye concealer designed to conceal dark circles, hyperpigmentation, and redness without creasing in fine lines. The formula is developed with vitamin C-rich maracuja to firm, brighten, and smooth the skin.
The difference: The new formula comes in 30 shades instead of 14, and it also comes in new packaging, which makes application easier. What we thought: I was really impressed with the 30-shade range and I love the new packaging – it’s nice and slim and perfect for traveling. When I first applied it, l noticed that it was really sticky, and felt a little bit greasy – it also has this shiny finish that reminded me a bit of the Kylie Cosmetics Concealer, which I wasn’t a big fan of. Because the consistency is so thick, it was difficult to blend with a damp beauty sponge, but it did blend out nicely with a dense brush. Seeing as it’s called Creaseless Concealer, I wanted to try it without setting it, but it just didn’t dry down, and within five minutes it settled into my fine lines. I blended it out again, and set it with powder, but it just kind of sat on top of my skin, and I noticed throughout the day it creased even more and my under-eyes looked greasy.
The verdict: This is super full coverage, so I think it could work well as a spot concealer when set with a powder, but I really wasn’t a fan of it as a concealer for underneath the eye.

Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer, $29
What it is: A lightweight, natural finish, full-coverage concealer infused with coconut water to hydrate. It’s supposed to have 12-hour crease-free wear and has no flashback. The difference: The previous Born This Way Concealer contained 7ml of product and came in 12 shades, whereas the new formula contains 15ml and offers 20 shades.
What we thought: This really is super full coverage, especially for how lightweight the formula is – it’s completely the opposite to the Tarte Creaseless Concealer. I love the new large doe-foot applicator, which means you can apply lots of product quickly, but you can also do targeted spot application. It blends SO nicely, and it worked effortlessly with both a damp sponge and a dense brush; it’s also easy to build, although you probably won’t need to! This dries down to a powdery finish and it sits really beautifully on the skin. Probably the best thing is that it looked flawless ALL day, it didn’t crease at all, and it didn’t make my under eyes look dry or cakey. I feel that there could have been a few more shades for the deeper end of the shade spectrum, and they all seemed a little warm in tone; as this is a multi-use concealer, these shades might be a little too warm to contour with, but I absolutely love them as a concealer. I also wish the bottle was a little smaller, as it’s quite big, but considering you get 15ml for $29, this is really good value for money.
The verdict: I have to say this might be a new fav concealer for me. I really love the Born This Way Foundation, and the new, more full coverage concealer is SO bomb, I might even prefer it to my Tarte Shape Tape concealer, which costs $27 for 10ml.

Tarte Creaseless Concealer vs Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer
As you can probably tell, the Too Faced Born This Way concealer has stolen my heart, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new concealer.
