How To Make Your Lipstick Last All Day

In honor of National Lipstick Day later this month (July 29th), we’re rounding up some of the most important things a lipstick lover should know, and obviously, maximizing wear is crucial! We all have those days where you don’t have a minute to yourself, you’re rushed off your feet, and the last thing you have time for is reapplying your lipstick. But we all feel better with a fresh lip and a plump pout, so applying your lipstick in the right way in the morning means you can go all day without having to reapply. The trick is all in the application, a good long-lasting lipstick, and using a trusty lip liner. Here’s how:

First off, start with a smooth canvas by exfoliating your lips – you can also smear a thick layer of toothpaste on your lips and leave it on for 10 seconds before wiping away; this will exfoliate and add volume to your lips.

Next, dab a little foundation on your lips with a makeup sponge, giving you a blank canvas to work with. Then contour your lips with a lip liner, I use the Huda Beauty Lip Contour, but I also love Kat Von D’s Everlasting Lip Liners. Contour done, use a Liquid Matte, or long-lasting liquid lipstick on top, et voila – you’re ready to start and finish the day with a killer pout. My pro tip is to dab a highlighter powder or a little shimmer at the center of your lips to add dimension and make your lips appear fuller.

P.S. Lipstick isn’t everything, but it’s a good way to start the day 😉
