When a Little Nip and Tuck is Too Much

Heidi Montag, 2010 post-surgery

Heidi Montag 2006, pre plastic surgery

Has Heidi Montag gone too far? I think we know the answer to that question. After having 10 procedures done in one day (this is not her first time under the knife), Montag claims she is ready for some more work. According to several sources, her surgeon who performed the surgery has refused to do any more work on The Hills star, but will this be the end or will we see a cat lady copy cat?

Younger Skin with Chocolate?

We’ve all been inundated with recent studies that dark chocolate is in fact, not only good for your taste buds, but also your health. What you may have not heard is the beautifying affects of dark chocolate.

In a study published by the American Medical Association, dark chocolate demonstrated the same cancer fighting polyphenol levels that matched red wine. Furthermore, the antioxidants found in dark chocolate have strong anti-aging qualities that protect your skin from sun damage, improve skin hydration, and skin density ( It has been noted that adding sugar to the equation, could cancel out most of the benefits).

Bubble bath anyone?

Beauty Secret Revealed: Baby-Soft Feet!

When it comes to footwear, it’s no question as to what is hot these days: The higher the heel, the better. And as much as we love our Louboutin’s, they may not love our feet.

Here is an old trick to get the perfect at-home pedi:

When soaking your feet, make sure the water is warm, add half a cup of olive oil and half cup dishwasher powder (Ariel works fine as a substitute), soak for at least 15 minutes then scrub with a body scrub like Cuccio Milk and Honey Sea Salt (available at Select Sasha’s salon or online at cuccio.com). Scrub in circular motions starting from your heels and moving toward your toes. Rinse with warm water. Follow with a pumice stone and foot lotion (Aveda Foot Relief, or Cuccio Milk and Honey Butter Blend) and voila! Buttery-soft-beautiful feet! For best results, try doing this once a week.

Question from a Fan: Bronze Beauty

FROM USER:
Hi gorgeous! I LOVE YOUR BEAUTY BLOG!!!!!!! Its awesome,, can you give me advice on bronzers and liquid foundation? I was previously using NARS laguna beach bronzer and just a random liquid foundation…any advice would be greatlyyyyyyyyy appreciated 🙂 Thanks dollface!

REPLY FROM BEAUTY 411:

Hi sweetie!!!

So glad you like the blog!!!! 🙂 Great question darling!

The foundation of choice for me is MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I seriously love it! I started using it when I had a facial that went wrong right before my wedding and I needed a cover-all foundation. This one does the trick and it’s actually quite light! No one every thinks I’m wearing makeup when I wear it, even after those rushed mornings when I apply it with my hands! I also like using the MAC Mineralize SPF Foundation as well for on-the-go (pretty much all the friends I recommended this to that try it, tell me they are so happy with it).

Bronzers are a subject that is very much important to me! After having spent a big part of my life sunbathing and realizing that I wrinkle like a raisin, I needed to find an alternative. I have literally tried every bronzer that has ever hit counters (and some that didn’t). My own personal preference for bronzers has been one that is light and natural. I don’t fancy shimmer or orange-based bronzers, but that’s personal preference. If you are looking for a natural bronzer with killer staying power, I HIGHLY recommend Cargo Water Resistant Bronzer. The color is amazingly natural and it looks great on everyone. I keep one for myself and one in my kit when I’m on set. If you do have a thing for NARS, try Heat. It’s a pressed powder that works great as a bronzer (it’s basically Laguna without the shimmer). If shimmer is what you are after, Guerlain makes great shimmery bronzers.

My biggest recommendation of all, however, is to wear plenty of SPF! I thinkn it’s nearly impossible to wear too much, in Dubai anyways! No matter where you are, make sure never to leave home without it!

Amazing Product Alert!!

I was walking through one of my favorite department stores this summer and having thought I was very happy with my current mascara, I kindly ignored the pushy sales lady when she suggested I try Smashbox Lash DNA. She finally gave me a sample and boy did my world change! I went back the very next day for three tubes for my sisters! This stuff is amazing!

It gives you extreme length, but also just the right amount of thickness. It is super black which makes for a kick ass combination! The secret weapon is the brush; it’s shaped just perfectly to give you the right volume you’re looking for.

For best results, I recommend using this with a Lash Primer (Makeup Forever Lash Fibers is a good choice), and lengthening mascara (Dior Iconic and Cargo Blue-Ray Mascaras are my favorite), followed by Lash DNA. If you’re in a hurry, skip the lengthening mascara and go!

Mona Lisa Brows? Well, kind of.

Whether you like it or not, bleached brows are still making a statement. Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Prada’s NYFW shows for 2009 clearly agreed! The latest Louis Vuitton ad campaign for Spring/Summer 2010 proves that this trend is not just a fad, but here to stay.

Shiseido Blotting Sheets

SHISEIDO OIL CONTROL | PRODUCT ALERT
By huda heidi kattan

Ahhh, summer! It’s right around the corner and if you are planning on looking gorgeously fresh all summer long, you need to deal with global warming asap. Let’s face it, with temperatures as high as they have been, you need to be prepared! Unless of course, you want to look like a giant lightbulb!  Shiseido blotting sheets are your cure-all to shine for summer and all year long. I know I’ve casually mentioned this product before in my blog, but that’s because they really work. These blotting sheets have been regarded as the most effective sheets in the world and after trying a good hand full of different types of blotting sheets, I couldn’t agree more.

These are not your average blotting sheets! No, not only do they fight shine, but they keep you matte all day and actually help fight acne! The secret behind the potent blend is the Rosemary Extract and Zinc Oxide.  The Rosemary keeps you dry all day, while the Zinc helps prevent acne! Talk about a dynamic-duo! It’s safe to say, this product is pure genius. Thank you Shiseido!

In Your Wildest Fantasy

Pat McGrath has been named ‘the most influential makeup artist of all times’, and while being credited as the creative mind behind runway looks for Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Galliano and Dior, it’s no wonder her imagination has received world-wide recognition. When I actually decided to study makeup, she was part of the reason! I think it’s amazing how much she can transform models into walking, living art! Check out some of my favorite work from Pat McGrath!
