Why I’m Obsessed With The New Touche Éclat Foundation

YSL Touche Éclat All-In-One Glow Foundation

Since its launch over 20 years ago, YSL’s Touche Éclat concealer has to be one of the most iconic beauty products ever – one is sold every 10 seconds. The Touche Éclat appears in almost every Instagram flat lay, every MUA’s makeup bag, and it’s constantly on the undereyes of celebs and makeup lovers across the world. Needless to say, if they’re going to sell it to us as a foundation, we’re here for that. Yves Saint Laurent’s latest addition to the Touche Éclat family is the All-In-One Glow Foundation, and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on it.

What it is: An intensely hydrating medium-coverage foundation made with 70% water, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E. The oil-free formula boasts ‘the finest pigments and ingredients,’ has SPF 23 protection and is non-comedogenic so that it won’t block pores.

What it does: As the Touche Éclat name would suggest (it roughly translates as ‘touch of radiance’) the foundation gives a luminous, dewy finish that improves the appearance of textured skin and smoothes fine lines.

What we liked: When I first applied this to the back of my hand, the formula seemed really strange, almost like water droplets were forming. But then… I applied it to my face and completely fell in love. I didn’t like applying it with my fingers, but when I used our Huda Beauty Foundation brush and stippled the foundation on, it worked SO well. For such a lightweight foundation, it covered my imperfections easily (including some scars) and looked flawless – not cakey at all. As the day went on, it continued to look flawless; it didn’t settle into any fine lines or wrinkles and lasted really well – I used the Huda Beauty Complexion Perfection primer and set it with powder. It also photographed well and looked more natural than the recent Marc Jacobs Shameless foundation.

What we didn’t like: I was really disappointed with the 12-shade offering, and I struggled to find my shade – YSL only offer six light shades, three medium shades, and three dark. I used shade B60, the fourth darkest shade! I also felt the packaging was a bit basic (far less Instagrammable than the Touche Éclat concealer), although it will come in handy for traveling, especially as this is a great lightweight foundation for summertime travels.

Final verdict and tips: I LOVE this foundation! It looks flawless and lasts beautifully through the day. For the most natural look, smooth the formula over your cheeks, forehead, and chin with your fingers, and blend with a damp sponge. For maximum coverage, use a stippling brush and finish with a dry beauty sponge. I think this will work well for oily and dry skin types: the hydrating formula will nourish dry skin, while for oily skin, the water-based formula and hyaluronic acid will control oil through the day – finish with a setting powder. If you have large pores or textured skin, apply a primer first. I will definitely be using this again!
