Scrolling through social media last week was like the gift that keeps on giving. We were literally drooling over our phones 24/7 thanks to the flurry of insane red carpet beauty moments, from NYFW to the VMAs and of course, the Met Gala. Ever since, our inbox has been blowing up with makeup artists and hairstylists helpfully explaining how to recreate the iconic looks and what products to use. As it turns out, glam squads didn’t just rely on designer beauty products, they also sourced their formulas from the drugstore – see what we mean when we said the gift that keeps on giving?! Here’s the tea…

1. Lil Nas X’s Met Gala Glow

Lil Nas X came through last week with some next-level red carpet looks. To keep his skin in check, makeup artist Grace Pae used a series of VERSED skincare products, which is one of our go-to drugstore skincare brands.

She used the Baby Cheeks All-in-One Hydrating Milk, $18, to prep his skin, and to brighten his under eyes, The Fix Emergency Eye Mask, $18. To amp up his glow game, she applied the Dew Point Moisturizing Gel Cream and the Mood Lighting Luminizing Glow Drops, $18, in bronze before using the Silk Slip Conditioning Lip Oil, $10, and the Keep It Supple Body Oil, $15. In short: she layered up on hydration – take notes.

2. Camila Cabello’s VMAs Beat

To create Camila’s show-stopping look, celeb MUA Patrick Ta exclusively used drugstore buys. He kicked things off with the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation, $15, “to ensure the skin is fresh and dewy.” Not only did he use this foundation to create her base but he also reached for a bottle two shades lighter to brighten up her undereye area.

3. Yara’s 20s Lash Moment

Yara literally never disappoints when it comes to hair and makeup. For her Met Gala look that paid homage to Josephine Baker, Yara’s MUA, Emily Cheng, applied the KISS Lashes. According to Emily, “Enhancing lashes really took off in the ‘20s. We applied Kiss Lash Drip Strip Lashes You Dew You, $5, in the corner of Yara’s eyes and it was the perfect style to further enhance the doe-eyed shape we were going for to give us that contour.”

4. Meg Thee Stallion’s Old Hollywood Glam

Megan’s MUA Lauren Elise Child spilled the tea on Megan’s Met Ball look: “For Megan’s Met Ball glam, we pulled inspiration from Old Hollywood. We decided to do a classic look, with touches of shimmer and gentle sculpting to accentuate her beautiful eye shape and cheekbones.”

To achieve the look, they used a full face of Revlon products including Megan’s latest collaboration with the drugstore brand. Specifically, on the eye, Lauren used the “Revlon x Megan Thee Stallion Big Bad Palette, $15, (in shades Heat Wave and Bring The Heat from the palette) and the Revlon So Fierce! Prismatic Eyeshadow Palette in 961 That’s A Dub, $8.

5. Barbie Ferreira’s 3D Mani

As you’d expect, the manicures were blinged out to perfection at the Met Gala. Nail Artist Natalie Minerva created Barbie Ferreira’s stunning 3D nail look. Natalie filled us in on the process, “For the design and base of Barbie’s nail look, I used the KISS Complete Salon Acrylic Kit, $16, to create sculptural texture on the nail. This allows unique shapes to form with ease. This style of nail art is very surrealist because it’s not traditional nail art in its standard form, but is very much the big trend right now. Once that sets, I come in with KISS PowerFlex Brush-On Nail Glue, $4, to make sure the pearls are sitting in the acrylic firmly.”

6. Dixie D’amelio’s Stacked Lashes

To achieve Dixie’s eye-catching glam, Patrick Ta used an assortment of KISS lashes, which seems to be everyone’s drugstore lash brand of choice. Not only did he use the KISS Lash Couture Triple Push-Up Lash in Brassiere, $7, but he also stacked some KISS Falscara Natural Wisps Multipack, $8, before using the KISS Falscara Bond & Seal, $10, to lock in the look. He told us, “We wanted to go for a bold lash moment glam for Dixie, her dress is Valentino Couture and so beautiful for Dixie’s first MET. We wanted to play up lash style with new lengths on the eyes.” We’re literally obsessed.

7. Emily’s Ratajkowski’s Blow Out

Working with hairstylist Jennifer Yepez, Emily Ratakowski’s hair was serving major bombshell vibes. To create the volumized look, Yepez grabbed a series of TREsemmé products. He combined the Premium Styling Dry Texture Finishing Spray, $6, and the TRES Two Hair Mousse Extra Hold, $5, to achieve that sexy, tousled vibe. #Obsessed.
