Today we’re super excited to tell you guys more about the face behind a very special collaboration for Huda Beauty. Meet Sana, our incredible BA (business advisor) in Selfridges, who was chosen through her hard work and dedication to create her very own shade of our cult Liquid Matte Lipstick. Our Huda Beauty Liquid Matte formula has been a fave for such a long time, and since it had been so long since we created new shades, it was the perfect opportunity for lipstick lovers, Sana and Bilkis (from Harrods) to create something new and fresh.

Sana’s Girl on Fire is the most gorgeous sexy shade of red with pretty, cool pink undertones, and it looks so stunning on everyone. The color was created with so much passion and all the incredible experience she’s gained from working so closely with Huda Beauty lovers shopping at Selfridges.

So, here’s the scoop on Sana and her beauty journey! From how she got started in beauty and what makes her so passionate about what she does, to how she chose her lipstick shade and her tips and tricks.

1. Tell us about how you got started in beauty?

I started in beauty when I was 16 years old. I used to work in the local salon, which inspired me more. It was something that was not easy for me to do as I couldn’t even hold a makeup brush. I used to watch the makeup artist and go home that night and practice what I had seen; it was absolutely awful! Although I was determined, every day, getting home from work, I used to practice on myself day in and day out. I even used to do makeovers on others, practicing everything I had learned that day. Safe to say, it wasn’t a pretty sight, but I got there! Eventually, I decided I wanted a career in beauty. It’s something I’ve been passionate about ever since.

2. Tell us about your journey with Huda Beauty

I have been with Huda Beauty for 4 years. This brand has made me so much more confident in who I am as a person. It has taught me that no matter what I am wearing, whether it is on-trend or not, to love all my flaws as beauty is within, and it is what I perceive it to be. I am so proud to be working for a brand that has taught me to be confident in my own skin and to own it.

3. What’s your favorite thing about makeup? How does it make you feel?

In this day and age, we live in an image-based society where women are expected to uphold so many standards, such as raising the next generation, building a career, and having the ‘slim Instagram body.’ All these things are what every woman is going through on a daily basis; this can make them feel very insecure and apprehensive. Wearing makeup gives you that boost in confidence; when you look good, you feel good.

Putting on makeup is like putting on your favourite pair of high heels; it gives you more confidence and makes you more in control. Working as an artist and able to help women with makeup is such a rewarding responsibility. I have the power of taking their insecurities away and give them a dose of confidence.

4. What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty, for me, is exploring your natural features. Beauty comes from within – you are beauty, and beauty is you. You are a masterpiece – a work of art. There is only one of you, made up of your genes and life experiences, and there will never be another.

5. How did you go about choosing your shade, and what inspired the color?

I chose the shade ‘Girl on Fire’ as I believe there is no colour like this on the market. Everyone has their perfect red shade. I was never able to find mine, and I can finally say I found it. My favourite movie is the Hunger Games; Jeniffer Lawrence, who is the main character, is the girl on fire. All eyes were on her, and I want everyone who wears this lipstick to feel the center of attention and confident in their own skin.

6. If you could only choose 3 Huda Beauty products to take on a desert island with you, which would you choose?

If I were to take 3 Huda Beauty products with me on a desert island, it would be the Legit Lashes Mascara, Liquid Matte Lipstick, and Glow Coco Hydrating Mist.

7. What are some of your lip tricks and hacks?

I always conceal the lips first as it helps the colour last longer – it adds dimension to the shade, and prevents feathering.

I then contour my lips using a Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0, apply the Liquid Matte on top, and go back over it again with the Lip Contour to give it an ombré effect.

8. What are your goals and dreams for the future?

I would love to one day open my own makeup salon where I can build a loyal clientele and spend my whole day doing makeovers and boosting their confidence.
