We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – a good glow-getting skincare routine is not complete without a stellar face oil. Yes, even those with oily skin can still benefit from using a face oil; you just have to find the right one and know when to use it. Facial oils are excellent for locking in moisture on the skin, replenishing and nourishing the skin, and can be truly transformative for a myriad of skin concerns depending on the oil.

Lucky for you, we recently tried an incredible new facial oil and we just had to share it with you. We also love the background behind the oil, which is steeped in the Founder’s rich Egyptian heritage. So, we spoke to the Founder of Omayma Skin and celebrity MUA, Omayma Ramzy, all about this gorgeous oil and her tips and tricks for using it in your routine. Here’s everything you need to know about the Omayma Skin The Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil, $112 (or try the travel size for $25).

What it is: The Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil is a rich blend of 15 phyto-potent botanical oils, including camellia oil, apricot kernel oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, argan oil, prickly pear seed oil, hemp seed oil, neem oil, blue tansy essential oil, sea buckthorn fruit oil, and a blend of lavender, rose, neroli, jasmine, and ylang-ylang essential oils. Each oil is hand blended and carefully sourced; it’s also non-toxic, organic, vegan, and cruelty-free.

What it does: This oil works overtime to restore your skin to its healthiest, glowiest state possible. Omayma explains how: “It replenishes and strengthens your skin’s moisture barrier, while also providing the optimum daily skin nutrition, with vitamins A, C & E, as well as being enriched with powerful antioxidants.” As a result, it also helps to restore uneven skin and brighten hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and post-inflammatory scarring.

The oil is noncomedogenic and great for acne-prone skin thanks to blue tansy, an amazing anti-inflammatory and antibacterial oil. Super skin softening, the incredibly nourishing and healing oils like prickly pear seed, sea buckthorn fruit, and hemp seed work wonders for inflamed, irritated, and dry skin. Grape seed, avocado and jojoba bring a surge of antioxidants that protect against aging free radicals. We love the lightweight texture that absorbs nicely and doesn’t feel greasy.

For her morning facial massage: “I love using the Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil every morning after I apply a vitamin C serum,” says Omayma. She also uses the oil to add slip to her skin for her daily massage; “I love to fight gravity with a facial massage every day to really wake up the skin. In my facial massage, I warm the oil up in my hands and press it into the skin. Then with one side at a time, I work in upward motions from the chin to the cheekbone, paying extra attention to the muscles in my face.”

During her weekly hammam: “It’s so important to me, to go *all out* at least once every week or two,” says Omayma – a woman after our own heart! She spills the deets on her go-to self-care ritual, “I tend to do an at-home Hammam with a full body and face steam, followed by an enzyme mask. I even have a big tub of olive soap from my mother’s olive farm in Marrakech and I follow up with a full-body scrub down. It’s so important to reinforce the moisture barrier of your skin after a full steam and scrubbing down. Finally, I use the Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil to lock in moisture and finish with a face massage once again.”

Erm, we’re totally taking notes! Omayma insists, “Having a full self-care moment every week is so important to me. Not only for my appearance but especially for my mood!” #Facts!

To prep for makeup: According to Omayma, the Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil is also ideal for makeup prep. She explains, “As a makeup artist, my “thing” has always been getting the perfect amount of dewy skin, without too much shine. Before I made The Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil, I would be constantly mixing and blending different oils and making my own concoctions to get the right kind of glow. I found that with so many, they wouldn’t absorb fully, or would leave a residue, or become too greasy throughout the day on different complexions. I worked really hard in the formulation process to create this product so it soaked in quickly, leaving your skin nourished and softened, and with the right amount of glow, but not letting your makeup slide off your face.” So basically our dream oil!

Omayma spills the deets on her skincare prep for dewy makeup: “To prep models and actors’ skin, after cleansing and toning, I use The Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil and go in with my desired foundation. I really love using a little of the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, $30, and blending that wherever necessary to keep a minimalist look. Being such a versatile product, if you’re on the drier side, you can mix it into your moisturizer or foundation to lock your hydration in further as well.”

At nighttime: Omayma says, “I love using The Bedouin Elixir as part of my nighttime routine, in addition to my morning routine, when my skin is stressed or just needs some extra love.” She explains that she likes to use it as her final step after serums and moisturizes, “I take a few drops and press it into the skin to lock in all the benefits and allow even more work to be done as my skin metabolizes the magic I’ve set to work.”

She adds, “The natural aroma of The Bedouin Elixir Facial Oil is also magical. Calming Moroccan tansy with soft notes of jasmine, rose, and neroli gives the perfect herbal-floral balance. These are all botanicals that take me straight back to my mother’s farm in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, and I love it. The first thing people tell me is how much they love the smell and how it instantly calms their senses.” We can vouch for Omayma on this one; it smells like walking into a luxury spa.

Our verdict: We’ve been using this oil religiously every morning and night for weeks and we’re low-key obsessed. It leaves our skin feeling super soft with the most radiant glow that’s already bagged us tons of compliments. While we can’t comment on the long-term benefits yet, our skin is plump, supple, and firm. We also love the slight cooling sensation that occurs when you apply it to your skin – it’s almost addictive! As our skin is on the dry side, we found it wore well underneath makeup, however, we needed to apply a light veil of powder to our T-zone to mattify slightly. While it’s suitable for all skin types, if you have oily, acne-prone, or combination skin, we recommend using this as the final step of your nighttime routine or combining one or two drops with your fave moisturizer for daytime.
