This Makeup Hack Will Give You The Natural Finish You've Been Craving

Complexion

The world’s obsession with natural makeup isn’t going anywhere in 2021, in fact, we’re going to see MUAs and beauty junkies get creative with new hacks to perfect flawless yet natural glam. Case in point: this new complexion hack that beauty influencers are loving RN. And we can totally vouch for this one; it’s super simple and leaves you with the most stunning, sculpted complexion without looking overdone! Here’s everything you need to know.

The Complexion Hack

When we said this hack was easy, we weren’t kidding. All you have to do is apply your cream contour and blusher underneath your foundation. By simply defining your facial features before you apply foundation, it’ll create a more natural, seamless finish. It’ll also help avoid any blending mishaps as the foundation will help buff away any harsh lines.

For this technique, it’s essential you use cream or liquid products so they can blend seamlessly with your foundation. Our go-to cream contour is the Huda Beauty Tantour, $30, as the cream-to-powder formula melts into the skin for a natural, sculpted finish and comes in five shades that work beautifully for all skin tones. And as the beautiful @nakitaglowup demonstrates above, Tantour works perfectly with this hack! As for blush, we opted for the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, $20, as it’s heavily pigmented and will peak through your foundation for a soft rosy glow.

Don’t be afraid to play around and incorporate different products into this technique like highlighter or concealer. Just be aware that this hack is most impactful with heavily pigmented products. It’s also a great way to use up products you’ve bought online that weren’t quite the right shade, as the layer of foundation will bring everything together to work better for your skin tone. If you need to, you can always top up with powder products after foundation.

We also love to use this layering technique for nose contour, as it helps add definition and a subtle snatching effect without looking too obvious. However, for your nose, you can also try a powder contour or eyeshadow product as it’ll allow for greater precision, which is essential for nose contour. Take a small fluffy brush and start at the beginning of your brow and bring the contour done along each side of your nose and a dusting underneath. Once the powder is applied, layer a light veil of foundation on top using gentle stippling motions, then accentuate the bridge of your nose with a touch of highlighter.
