Enzymes are one of the hottest ingredients in skincare right now. Not only do they majorly up your glow game but they gently exfoliate the skin leaving you with a brighter, clearer complexion. The only problem is – like so many great skincare ingredients – they have a slightly higher price tag, but don’t worry, we have a much more affordable option… Yup, there’s a DIY alternative and this particular enzyme scrub has been one of our go-tos for years. Here’s everything you need to know:

The DIY Enzyme scrub

The key ingredient for this scrub is pineapple. Pineapple contains the fruit enzyme bromelain, which acts as a gentle exfoliator removing dead skin cells that clog pores and make your skin appear dull. It’s also a natural source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that protects against skin-damaging free radicals and UV light. The raw oats will work as a natural anti-inflammatory and just like honey; they’re a natural humectant so the scrub will draw moisture back into the skin. It’s also great for acne-prone skin as it’ll reduce the swelling of any existing pimples, and as honey is an antibacterial it’ll help combat bacteria.

Ingredients:

2-3 slices of fresh pineapple
1 tablespoon of raw oats
1 teaspoon of raw honey

Blend the pineapple until it creates a smooth mixture, then add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Apply the scrub onto cleansed skin and gently massage the scrub in circular motions onto your face and leave on for a few minutes. Wash with warm water and follow with your fave moisture.
