How To Have The Best Year Ever According To My Life Coach
Hey my loves! Over the past two years, I’ve been working with a life coach, and I know it sounds kinda corny, but it’s honestly changed my life! My life coach Kira Jean is a global speaker, writer, life coach, and Founder of The Dreamwork Collective Publishing House: she’s the definition of a lady BAWSE – I really don’t know how she does it all!
My training with Kira has really helped me to become a much happier, healthier person, with a much more balanced life. It’s definitely been something I’ve worked on over time, but I feel that it’s enriched my life with so much positivity. I’m more efficient at work, I feel like I’m a better leader in the office, and in my personal life I’m more empathetic and have learned to process any struggles in a much healthier way.
I really wanted to spread Kira’s positive energy and problem-solving attitude across the Huda Beauty family. I was so overwhelmed by the incredible feedback we had from my team after we held some in-office workshops, and I just knew I had to share her wisdom with you guys as well. So, to help you get 2019 off to the right start, we asked her to share her tips for having the best year yet!
Here’s all Kira’s advice for having the best year ever:
Setting Kick-Ass Goals For 2019
When setting goals, approach them from a holistic perspective for the best results – everything is connected, so your goals need to support each other. When you include all the areas of your life in your goal-setting, you set yourself up for even greater success. If one goal disrupts a goal you have for another area of your life, the original goal will end up being unfulfilling and more difficult to achieve.
To set kick-ass goals this New Year, start small but wide – be inclusive in your goal-setting, and reach greater levels of success and satisfaction in your life as a whole. To do this, grab a pen and a piece of paper (or use your phone) and write down the following ten areas of life:
1. Wealth & abundance
2. Purpose & contribution
3. Relationships
4. Work
5. Body
6. Mindset
7. Emotions
8. Personal growth/spirituality
9. Fun & recreation
10. Physical environment (Your home or surroundings)
Set a small goal (a ‘step-goal’) for each area, and make sure the goals you’re setting support the goals you have in other areas of your life. For example, if you set a goal to “get promoted at work,” but the reality of achieving that goal will negatively impact your downtime, or relationships, or health, then start with a ‘step-goal’ instead. A step-goal is what will get you to the ultimate goal, but it’ll give you more freedom to decide how you actually get there. So for this example, instead of setting the goal to “get promoted,” a ‘step-goal’ would be something like: “speak up in group situations” or “share my ideas with my manager.” Step-goals ultimately get you to your big goal but do so in a way that doesn’t negatively impact the other areas of your life.

Keep it simple, specific, and manageable. Set clear timeframes around your goals, and remember that when you’re setting a goal for one area of your life, it should positively impact all of the other areas of your life, too! So if your ‘Body’ goal was to go to the gym every day, but that meant that you didn’t have enough time to see your friends or family, set a more balanced goal, like just three days a week at the gym, or being able to run 5k by the end of February.
I know Kira’s technique sounds simple, but I swear it’ll make a difference to your mindset! Even the smallest tips Kira has given me have made a huge difference, and I really find it so helpful to set lots of small goals for different areas of your life. The truth is, sometimes we get so caught up in improving one aspect of our lives, whether that’s a relationship or work, that you focus all your energy on that and then realize you’re lacking progress in other areas. You have to remember that you need balance, and by doing Kira’s 10-step plan above, this makes that much more achievable. I hope you guys try it – after a while, you can really notice a difference!
