Bella Hadid Gave Me THE Most Insane Tip For Flawless Foundation, And It Works!

You may have noticed I’m obsessed with bizarre beauty, so when the gorgeous Bella Hadid told me about this crazy way to set your makeup flawlessly, I was intrigued, to say the least. The weird water-setting technique called Jamsu (which means submerge) originated in Korea and basically involves covering your freshly caked face in baby powder or translucent powder and dunking your face in cold water – I know, it took me a while to build up the courage to try this! The idea is that it sets your makeup to perfection and gives you a completely airbrushed matte finish that lasts all day long… Obviously, I was going to try it!

This hack is also meant to be especially good for people with oily skin. Here’s how you do it:

Step 1: Apply your makeup as usual: Primer, foundation, concealer, and cream contour. Don’t put your eye makeup on; you will end up looking like a panda!

Step 2: Use a beauty blender to smother your face in translucent powder or baby powder. Note: any colored powder saturates a lot, so try to find one which is as translucent as possible (avoid yellow-toned powders). Your face should be covered as if you were baking, but not too excessively.

Step 3: Add cold water to a big bowl and completely submerge your face in the water. If you have dry skin, you can do it for around 15 seconds, but for oilier skin, you can stay under for up to 30 seconds.

Step 4: Gently pat your face dry. I found that in places, I still had excess powder, so you can dust this off with a fluffy brush.

Step 5: Apply bronzer, as the powder may make your skin slightly paler, and add your powder contour and highlight. Et Voila, flawless skin!

I’ll admit that initially, I wasn’t happy, but when you complete step five, the overall result is that your face looks airbrushed and you get a super matte finish. I’m not sure if it’s the best thing to do for your skin every day, but if you want your makeup to last all day, I would definitely give this a go.
