Bae-trayal /bay·tray·al/

When a friend, sibling, or loved-one snaps you without the use of a filter or at a bad angle; a violation of trust. A major offense especially when not wearing any makeup.

Note: Proper Snapchat etiquette would specifically require the use of one of the pretty lenses (anything with flowers, stars, or a brightening, otherworldly glow are safe bets).

How to Make Your Hair Appear Fuller and Help it Grow!

Hi everyone! I have a double-whammy trick to help my hair fall stop and make it look thicker: I use a mix of Kérastase Densifique Minoxidil solution (which helps to add density to hair) and a dark eyeshadow shade (here I used Too Faced’s Natural Matte Palette) to cover up any exposed scalp areas. You can see a difference in just minutes with this beauty hack! See it below:

My Secret for Perfectly Symmetrical Brows!

Hey my lovesss! So I know this sounds crazy, but I’ve been using a caliper for years to do my eyebrows to make sure they’re perfectly symmetrical! Calipers, if you don’t know, is a tool usually used by engineers or doctors to be exact when they measure distance – usually something engineers and doctors will use but, hey makeup is a science too, right? :). It definitely works though if you’re a stickler for details…check out my quick tutorial on it below! You can see more of my quick beauty hacks on IG @hudabeauty.

Charlotte Tilbury
in product review

You’re going to want every single lipstick in this celebrity-inspired collection

I’m not going to lie guys, I was sooo nervous to meet Charlotte Tilbury for the first time when she came by the office recently! Tilbury has worked with some of the most famous faces like Kate Moss and Rihanna, and I’ve always been such a fan of her work! I got a chance to take a look at her new Hot Lips collection, and the colors are absolutely breathtaking. Housed in the line’s signature rose gold, lipsticks are named after and inspired by some of Tilbury’s own celebrity friends.

I love the unique shape of the bullets that has a slanted square tip to make it easy to apply right on the lips. Some of the office favorites are the taupey pink of Super Cindy (named after Cindy Crawford), a bold fuchsia (Electric Poppy, after Poppy Delevingne), the deep mulberry of Hel’s Bells after Helena Bonham-Carter, and a siren red (Carina’s Love, after Chinese actress Carina Lau). They run from sheer to more opaque variations and have a cream finish that helps keep lips soft. I’m having so much fun trying on the different shades. There is seriously something for everyone. Here are some swatches from the collection above – let me know what you think!

What’s On Huda’s Desk This Week

A few of my favorite things…

WOHD - 1

Sunglasses – I’m obsessed with big, mirrored sunglasses like these that I picked up in Korea.

Beautyblender Pro – I love Beautyblenders! Their black one has always been my favorite because it just looks so elegant and more luxurious than the rest.

Huda Beauty lashes in Lana #10 – The Lana lashes are one of our boldest. I think these look particularly nice for somebody who has a strong brow bone like myself.

Suratt Beauty Relevée Lash Curler
– There’s something really cool about the matte black. Suratt Beauty is a brand I really love, and this eyelash curler works particularly well on almond-shaped eyes.

Forever Roses black rose – I’m definitely going through a black phase. There’s something very heavy and rich about it. I have a few of these at the office.

Diptyque Roses candle – All of Diptyques candles smell so soft and pretty. It’s not overpowering and I’m obsessed with the Roses scent. I’ve lived in the States for a long time, and in Dubai for a long time and this floral fragrance I feel works in both areas. It transcends and works wherever you are.

M2 Beauté Eyelash Activating Serum – Funny enough, Revitalash isn’t working as well on me like it used to! This brought my lashes back to life. The only thing is the serum is kind of strong, so you might feel a burning sensation when you use it, which I found a little uncomfortable around my eyes. But it does work in making my lashes super thick. I bought this at Harrod’s during my last trip in London, and liked it so much, I bought three more.

Chanel Gardénia perfume – I love Chanel’s Gardénia particularly because it can stand on its own but is still so light that can also mix well with other fragrances. I have one at home and one on my desk. I bought two by accident. Well, not really by accident…kind of by accident.

Insta Glossary: Baking

bakingBaking /bay·king/

A technique with origins in the drag community to set your makeup for a poreless, flawless finish. It requires applying a thick coat of translucent powder over your foundation areas you want to look brighter as a final step, and letting it sit for five to ten minutes. Afterwards, dust it off using a clean, fluffy brush. Helps to add extra highlight on the areas you want to emphasize.

Common areas to “bake” are underneath the eyes, along your jawline, on the center of your forehead, and down the center of your nose. This technique to soak up any excess oils from your foundation and concealer to smooth out the skin.

Also referred to as “cooking” your face.

Other definitions:

Click on the video for a comprehensive baking tutorial:

Tools required for a proper baking session:

1) Translucent powder (Huda’s pick: Givenchy Mat & Translucent-finish Loose Powder, Ben-Nye Luxury Powder)
2) A Beautyblender sponge
3) A dome, fluffy brush (Huda’s pick: Sigma Beauty’s F15 Duo Fibre Powder/Blush Brush)

Tip: Use a wet BeautyBlender to apply the powder to your face (Huda’s preferred method). For heavier coverage, use a powder puff.
