This Is The BEST Powder You'll Use All Summer

beauty

MR7A6877-editedKat Von D is swiftly becoming one of my FAV beauty brands to watch! Her latest Lock-It collection epitomizes what we all want from our makeup, products that will ensure our look lasts all day. But it’s not just that we want our makeup to stay in place, we want it to look completely flawless too. So, in our quest to find this combination, I was super psyched to try Kat’s new Lock-It Brightening Powders.

What it is: A superfine, weightless, tinted formula designed to brighten the under-eye area instantly. It comes in three shades: Golden, a subtle banana yellow for deep and tanned skin. Peach, a warm pinky-peach tone for medium skin. Petal, a soft pale pink for light skin tones.

What it does: Created to illuminate the under area with ‘less weight and no cake,’ the brightening powder has a super light texture designed to smooth and blur this crease-prone area. Three unique powders have been created to complement different skin tones, but they can also be used all over for setting.

What we liked: The quality of this powder has massively exceeded my expectations, it’s incredible! The powder is sooo fine, it applies beautifully, and the finish is flawless. I’ll admit when I first saw these, I thought the colors seemed saturated, but the pigments combined with the brightening powders create the most gorgeous, subtle tone – almost translucent. Let me start by saying I didn’t use these predominantly to brighten my under-eye area (although it really did), but I actually used them as color correcting/ setting powders all over my face… and it worked perfectly! I used a combination of peach and golden all over and petal under the eye. Honestly, my face stayed matte all day, and my skin looked picture-perfect. They’re also really cute and petite, so if you’re traveling or want a powder for on the go, this is ideal.

What we didn’t like: Nothing! I will say that I found it a little drying for my skin (I have combination skin, and I don’t get oily throughout the day), but that could be partly because I used a mattifying primer as well. Even though it did have a drying effect, I will 100% use this again – I really LOVE it!

TIPS: I think if you have dry skin, be sure to prep with a good moisturizer or an oil to make sure your skin is thoroughly hydrated. I also think the right application is key: a damp sponge will add just the right amount of product for dry skin. If you have oily skin, a brush will distribute more powder to keep your skin matte and oil-free throughout the day – this powder is going to become your best friend!

I can truthfully say this is by far the best powder I’ve ever used – it’ll keep you selfie-ready 24-7. If you want to use it just for baking, you can, but I highly recommend it as an all-over setting and mattifying powder as well.
