We’re always looking for products to tighten our pores, and even after testing hundreds of products, one of our fave pore solutions is a DIY. It’s SO quick and easy and you probably already have the ingredients stashed in your fridge. The whole process will take you 15 minutes, the end result? Your pores will look tighter, and your skin will look smoother and it’ll instantly mattify oily skin so you no longer have to worry about midday shine. It’s even the fave DIY mask of one our fave NY dermatologists, Dr. Shereene Idriss. Here’s everything you need to know:
The DIY Pore-Tightening Mask
Egg whites have been used for hundreds of years to restore the skin due to its deep cleansing properties that help tighten and degunk your pores by ridding it of the oil that’s causing them to enlarge. One egg typically contains 3.6 grams of proteins, which helps strengthen the skin, while vitamins protect your skin from damaging free radicals. For an added kick, lemon will make this the ultimate, pore-tightening, exfoliating treatment. Not only are lemons packed with vitamin C, which is a natural skin brightening agent, but it also contains citric acid, an AHA that gently exfoliates pores.
1 large egg
Crack 1 egg in a bowl and separate the yolk so only the egg white remains – this makes a great mask by itself, but if you like, you can also add three to four drops of lemon juice (if you have sensitive skin, skip the lemon). Whisk the mixture until it thickens slightly. Apply the mixture to cleansed skin then wash it off once it dries (it will feel tight on your skin), around 15 minutes later with lukewarm water. Follow with your fave moisturizer.
We LOVE how soft, smooth and glowy this makes our skin feel!
