Don’t get us wrong, we LUUUHHVE all the beauty products on our shelf, but these DIYs are the bomb.com. Seriously they’re so good, often in our time of need, we turn to them instead of reaching for our cult products. We love that DIYs are such an affordable way of treating your skin, plus, you know they’re free of any harmful toxins or chemicals. And, because you’re applying the ingredient in its most raw and natural form, the nutrients pack a punch.

No matter what your dilemma; dull skin, acne, greasy locks; there’s a DIY solution. Check out these three amazing DIYs…

1. Farah Dhukai’s Turmeric Mask

Targets: Acne, dark spots, facial hair, dull skin, dark circles.

Ingredients:
1 cup chickpea flour
1 tsp turmeric (use 1/2 tsp if you have fair skin)
1 tsp almond oil
1/2 cup of milk (If you’re vegan use almond milk)

A DIY turmeric mask has been one of our go-to’s for years, but Farah’s recipe is mega potent – we can always rely on Farah to come through for us with the DIYs. The turmeric content in Farah’s brightening mask will help soothe any inflammation in the skin and as it’s anti-bacterial, it’ll also reduce levels of acne bacteria – it can even help soften the appearance of acne scars. The chickpea flour is another great addition as it contains acne-combatting zinc. It’s also an amazing yet gentle exfoliator, which is enhanced by the milk that contains natural AHAs to renew and replenish the skin.

Targets: Dry, dull skin, acne scars, split ends, brittle hair.

Jake-Jamie’s DIY is so genius, we’re kinda bummed we didn’t think of it ourselves! Aloe Vera is one of the most amazing natural ingredients as it’s super hydrating and it’s bursting with antioxidants and beauty-boosting vitamins. Plus, it’s one of those ingredients that’s most impactful when it comes directly from the plant – Jake-Jamie’s in the know! By combining this mega-hydrator with sugar, you’ll create a soothing, gentle exfoliator that also moisturizes the skin so that it doesn’t become irritated; which can often be the case with mechanical exfoliators. It’s great for your hair too as it has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that’ll help rebalance your scalp’s pH levels, reducing dandruff, and boosting hair growth. Jake-Jamie, we’ll be forever thankful!

3. Our Pimple-Busting Peels

Targets: Pimples, acne scars, pigmentation, oily skin.

The next time your skin’s acting out, leave your go-to pimple-buster in your cabinet in favor of this all-natural solution. Bananas are packed with anti-inflammatories like zinc, manganese, and vitamin A, so they’ll help reduce any swelling in the skin. The peel will also act as an exfoliant, and as it has antibacterial properties, it’ll attack lingering acne bacteria. Plus, the starch content will help control oil production while the enzymes in the peel will break down any dull, dead skin debris on the upper layer of the skin, leaving you with healthier-looking skin.
