Complexion has been a serious journey for me, and when we created our #FauxFilter Foundation two years ago, we created the ultimate full-coverage foundation that really hid everything! As I’ve gone on a skincare journey with WISHFUL, I’m feeling more and more comfortable in my skin, and I wanted to reflect that in our Huda Beauty complexion range.
We had so much love for our #FauxFilter Foundation, but we were also listening to your feedback and making notes on what you guys wanted from us… The same flawless filtered finish, but a lighter version – so we decided to create one! Introducing our new #FauxFilter Skin Finish Buildable Coverage Foundation Stick, a super creamy, delicious formula that gives a very natural yet filtered finish, in 39 beautiful shades. We’ve taken all the things you loved about #FauxFilter – from the waterproof formula to the filtered look – and packed it into a lighter coverage, natural-finish formula, all in a portable stick!
The #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick Formula
This luxuriously creamy formula melts into the skin, blending effortlessly for a natural yet radiant, filtered effect, as it visibly reduces the appearance of pores and conceals without caking. Whether you prefer full coverage or barely any at all, the buildable formula is super customizable; you can sheer it out to create an illuminating skin tint or build it up for more coverage while still getting that natural look.
Our #FauxFilter Foundation Stick is also fragrance-free (we heard you!), non-comedogenic (so it won’t clog your pores), waterproof, pool-party proof and sweat-resistant! The non-drying formula gives up to 10 hours of flawless wear and works for all skin types. I love that the stick and the extremely easy-to-blend formula makes it so simple to use in a hurry, when you’re on the go or even if you’re doing a full beat. You can apply directly to your skin and blend out with your fingers, a makeup sponge or a brush, and no need to set it if you’re in a rush.
I feel like so often when it comes to foundation, you either get a really natural look or a filtered look and if you do get a natural finish it’s often not that long-lasting! What I’m SO happy about and why I’m so proud of this, is that you get all three: a long-lasting, filtered finish that never looks cakey or heavy. Our original #FauxFilter foundation was our first ever complexion product, and although I’m so proud of our first launch, two years later we now have more experience and knowledge and we’ve been able to dive even deeper into complexion. The #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick has new and improved undertones in 39 beautiful, stretchable shades, which include 9 new shades and re-worked shade families to extend the original 5 families to 8, making it even easier to find your perfect match.

The Inspiration:
Honestly, you guys inspired me to make this product! So many of you wanted a lighter version of our #FauxFilter for every day, and you wanted a fragrance-free version that would still give great coverage. So, we started working on a new formula with a lab in South Korea to make sure we created everything you wanted and more! I’m so proud of the team for the stunning shade range and the incredible, natural-finish formula they’ve created and I hope you guys love it as much as I do!
How to use #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick:
This foundation stick formula is creamy, delicious, non-drying, and the most amazing stick formula I’ve ever used. Honestly, I’m not really a foundation stick fan, but this formula has converted me! There are so many ways you can use this formula and it builds up easily to provide customizable coverage.
Technique 1: Apply #FauxFilter Skin Finish directly onto the skin and buff out with your favorite sponge or brush; the more product you use, the higher the coverage. Once blended, you can apply an extra layer to any areas you want to build more coverage, then blend again.
Technique 2: Another way I love to apply this foundation is with our new Huda Beauty dual-ended Face | Buff & Build Foundation Brush. I like to brush the stick directly onto the pyramid-shaped end and apply, then buff it out with the larger buffing brush. This gives a really light, natural finish.
Honestly, you don’t have to set this foundation at all, and it has such amazing coverage that I often don’t even feel like I need concealer for my under eyes. If you do use concealer then set in place as you usually would and go ahead and use powders where you like. As always, for a full beat or for those with oily skin, you can set with powder.
Try our NEW Face | Build and Buff Foundation Brush
Okay, I am obsessed with our new foundation brush: It’s double-ended, so you’re getting two brushes for the price of one, and they complement each other so well! Both brushes are made with synthetic fibers and work SO well with cream, liquid or solid foundations. The smaller brush is perfect for getting into trickier areas and giving precise application while the larger brush is the boss of buffing-out foundation for a really flawless finish.
The Brushes:
Build brush: This pyramid-shaped brush is perfectly shaped to reach tricky areas – like around the nose – and makes building up coverage on targeted areas extra easy. It’s also perfect for touch-ups throughout the day.
Buff brush: With a flat surface and rounded edges, these densely-packed bristles make for optimal application for seamless buffing and blending.
How to use: Using the Build brush, pick up and apply your foundation to areas such as cheeks, the middle of your forehead, and around the nose and eyes. Next, buff out the formula using the Buff brush to create a flawless airbrushed finish.
Meet our NEW Water Jelly Hydrating Primer
We also created our water Jelly Hydrating Primer to be the most amazing base whether you’re using our foundation stick or not! True story: When we first discovered this, it was a skincare essence, but we realized how incredibly well it worked as a primer, so we adapted the formula. Now, it’s the most amazing primer that instantly hydrates the skin with its clever, solid-water matrix while creating the perfect canvas for makeup that looks flawless all day.
The unique jelly-gel texture glides on, evenly distributing instant hydration that keeps your skin balanced all day long while the activated makeup grip creates the perfect texture for makeup in less than 60-seconds! It works beautifully with our foundation stick, as well as other foundations.
How to Use Water Jelly Hydrating Primer
- Apply one pump of primer to clean skin before makeup application.
- Wait 30 to 60 seconds for the hydrating ingredients to absorb into your skin while the activating priming ingredients provide optimal makeup grip.
- Follow with foundation application, as usual.
I know I always say this, but I really am so excited about this new foundation – it’s a product that I know people who love our products will become obsessed with, but also those who haven’t yet tried our complexion will also love.
