How To Get The Best All-Over Glow For Summer

Complexion

Having glowing skin is the epitome of being summer-ready. It’s that glossy, dewy, radiant look that implies that you’ve just spent a month in the Bahamas. You look good, you feel good, and you literally look like you’ve been bathing in sunshine. Well, considering most of us didn’t manage a trip to the Bahamas, and the fact that we’ve probably spent less time outside than any other year, we’re gonna give you some simple steps to fake it.

Here’s how to get a gorgeous, dewy summer glow from head-to-toe:

Step 1: Prep your skin

Skin that glows needs two things, a fresh canvas and plenty of hydration. Start by exfoliating with a gentle exfoliator like the WISHFUL Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub, $39 – you only have to watch the reviews to know it’s the easiest way to get your glow on! This will create a soft, smooth canvas for makeup application while gently removing any dry skin that could be making your complexion look dull – it will also simultaneously even skin tone and brighten!

Follow by ensuring your skin is properly hydrated. Our cheat sheet is the WISHFUL Thirst Trap Cocoon Mask, $9, which is packed with super hydrating ingredients like aloe vera and sodium hyaluronate. If you don’t have time for a sheet mask, use a hydrating facial mist in-between skincare layers for an extra boost of hydration, then lock everything in with a moisturizer to suit your skin type. If it’s daytime, don’t forget SPF!

Step 2: Prime

Prime your skin with a hydrating, glow-giving primer to keep your makeup locked in place and start the glow-process! You can also mix a couple of drops of a liquid highlighter with your fave primer. We like to mix a little of our Huda Beauty N.Y.M.P.H. Liquid Highlighter, $49, with our Complexion Perfection Pre-Makeup Base, $35.

Step 3: Lay the Foundation

Depending on your coverage preference, either opt for a BB cream or foundation with a dewy, skin finish. We love the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, $49, and the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation, $8, which both give long-lasting, glowing results. You can either mix your foundation formula with your primer for natural coverage and blend out with a damp makeup sponge or use two pumps of foundation and stipple it onto the skin with a dense foundation brush for full, glowing coverage.

Step 4: Lock It In

The easiest way to get a dewy skin finish is by setting your skin with our new Huda Beauty Glow Coco Hydrating Mist, $35 – there really is nothing else like it for imparting a dewy finish! If you have particularly oily skin and prefer to finish with powder, mix a tiny amount of a loose highlighter powder in with your normal setting powder, then lightly dust your face with it to give your skin luminosity.

Step 5: Glow It Up

Finally, it’s time to highlight. Use your highlighter strategically on the high points of your face, like your cheekbones, Cupid’s bow, and above your brow bone and down the center of your nose. We love the Jaclyn Hill Beaming Light Loose Powders, $24, which come in five popping shades for a super bright, wet-looking finish.

We’re also completely obsessed with our new, humongous Huda Beauty N.Y.M.P.H. All Over Highlighting Powder, $55, which gives the most stunning golden highlight that looks so dewy and glowy. It can be used on your face and all over your body to add the ultimate summer glow. We like to apply it to our décolleté and shoulders for the sexiest skin shimmer.

Step 6: Don’t Forget Your Body

Faking that you’ve been on holiday means no inch of skin goes un-glowed! Use a liquid body highlighter on your legs and for a more subtle look, mix it with a little moisturizer for your arms. Two of our fave body highlighters include the Sol De Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Body Oil, $35, which gives a sheer, sparkling finish to skin, and the Huda Beauty N.Y.M.P.H. Not. Your. Mama’s. Panty. Hose. Liquid highlighter, $49, which gives a full-coverage, skin-perfecting glow that lasts all day!

If you don’t have a liquid body highlighter, dust a large fluffy brush with your fave powder highlighter and apply it along the center of your legs and on your shoulders and collarbones for a sexy, subtle glow.
