bath tips

One of my all-time fave things to do is to have a bath, and I have one literally every evening if I can! Baths are my me-time and I never bring my phone into the bathroom – digital detoxing is so important! I have loads of different tricks for how to have an amazing bath that will give you that full-on spa experience. Here are all my tips and tricks and my fave products that I use:

For Detoxing:

epsom salts

My favorite thing to use in the entire universe is the Dr. Teals Pure Epsom Salt Soaking Solution with lavender, $5. It’s rich in magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen. The high levels of magnesium in Epsom salts are known to be absorbed into your body and loosen stiff muscles, soothe itching skin, and more. I love the lavender scent and it helps to make me feel calm and switch off. They also have Eucalyptus and Peppermint, Shea Butter, and lots of other scent options if you’re not into lavender.

My other new fave find is these Westlab Recover Bath Salts, $7, which is a blend of Epsom salts and eucalyptus essential oils. It also contains white willow and arnica and smells so fresh and relaxing!

If you can’t get your hands on Epsom salts, then you can just add sea salt to your bath, which is full of trace minerals that are also really good for your skin.

I also like to add green clay to my bath sometimes, which is the ultimate detoxing bath ritual – and yes, it kinda does look like you’re getting into a bowl of mud! However, clay helps to draw out toxins in your skin and it can also help with body acne and congested skin. Just add around half to one cup of clay powder (you can also add a couple of drops of essential oil), and sit back and relax for 30 minutes.

For Hydration:

I’ve been putting oils in my bath for years and it really helps soften, nourish, and moisturize my skin. You can either just add oil by itself or mix it in with bath salts or bubble bath. Coconut oil is easy to find and is super nourishing and moisturizing, but you can also use other oils that you might have at home, like olive oil or grapeseed oil, which all contain fatty acids and vitamins that your skin will love. I love how insanely soft my skin feels when I get out of the bath – just be sure to pat yourself dry to leave the oils on your skin.

You can also add coconut powder, which is still moisturizing but won’t leave your skin feeling slick. I just use this Maggi Coconut Milk Powder Mix, which is less than $2 and you should be able to find it at any grocery store.

You can also add in a couple of drops of your fave essential oil. The Woolzies Still Breeze essential oil, $15, is my go-to – it’s a combo of lavender and jasmine, and because jasmine helps to calm your nervous system, it just makes you feel SO relaxed.

Of course, bubbles are a bath essential as well! Choose any that you love and add a little to your bathtime concoction! Right now, I’m loving the Kylie Skin Rose Bubble Bath, $26, which contains hydrating oils and vitamins to nourish and soothe the skin.

Another key thing for a relaxing bath is good lighting and a calming atmosphere. So, leave your phone outside or put it on silent, light candles, use a dim light setting or just use candlelight, and put on some classical music for ultimate relaxation vibes.
