Dewy skin is THE sexiest makeup trend right now. But if you’re a matte skin lover like us, the prospect of glossy, dewy skin can be hella-intimidating. After all, we’ve been on a shine-free mission for years!

But don’t sweat it! With the right dewy makeup hacks, you can achieve stunning, glowy skin without looking oily. You’ll still be using your go-to powders to combat shine, but you’ll set with illuminating formulas for the ultimate glow up! Here’s everything you need to know:

1. Use our Highlighter Setting Hack

When we say this hack is life-changing, we’re not kidding. Not only will it keep your makeup locked in place all day long, but it leaves your skin looking glowy AF. All you need is a cream highlighter, setting spray, and a damp makeup sponge.

Start by spraying your makeup sponge with a long-lasting setting spray like our Resting Boss Face Setting Spray, $33. Next, dab your sponge in a cream highlight (we use our Huda Beauty 3D Highlighter Palette cream formula) – the creamy formula will be picked up easily by the blender. You could also opt for a liquid highlighter like the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Glow Amour Glow-Boosting Drops, $15, the shimmer is stunning – just add a few drops to the back of your hand and dip your blender in. Finally apply it to your skin; first target the areas you’d usually highlight like your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and the Cupid’s bow, then bounce any excess over the rest of your face to set your look. It’s that simple! This hack also works really well on the body: apply it to your collar bone and shoulders for a sexy body shimmer.

2. Set with an Illuminating Powder

If you have oily skin, chances are you’ll rely on powder products to keep your skin matte and shine-free. Therefore, the ultimate solution to staying oil-free is an illuminating powder. It’ll help blur out imperfections and give you that perfectly airbrushed finish with the most gorgeous glow. First, perfect your complexion, then finish by dipping a large fluffy brush into an illuminating powder and apply a light dusting all over your face.

We recently tried the new Mood Light Luminous Powder, $32, from the Jaclyn Hill Collection and we’re obsessed. The powder is super lightweight, locks your makeup in place all day, diffuses the light to give an airbrushed effect, and gives the prettiest natural glow.

If you don’t have an illuminating powder to hand, you can DIY your own! Start by taking a tiny amount of shimmer powder like the L’Oréal Shimmerista Highlighting Powder, $15, then mix it with a little loose setting powder, you’ll create the ultimate glow-giving setting powder. Mix the powders together in the lid then dust your new formula across your face to set your foundation, as you usually would. A little goes a long way, so test your powder on the back of your hand to ensure you’ve got a good mix.

3. Highlight… Everywhere!

This final hack is literally so simple, we’re surprised we didn’t think of it sooner. Grab a large fluffy brush and dip it in your fave powder highlighter. Next, apply it to the usual highpoints and finish by dusting whatever is left on your brush everywhere else! The illuminating shimmer particles with help create a dewy skin vibe, without making your skin look oily.
