If the Oscars red carpet taught us anything about beauty this year, it’s that these new beauty trends are here to stay! While last year saw natural makeup dominate the red carpet – and honestly, we weren’t too far from it this year – we saw some major trends come through in the beauty department.

Makeup was a combo of understated glam looks, and a few key trends stood out: brushed up brows, monochromatic makeup, and either bold red lips or nude lips. For hair, side parts were a huge trend, and we saw some of our fave haircut trend predictions come to life in the form of some gorgeous pixie crops and bobs. So, take a look, take notes, and make sure you’re repping some of these trends this weekend.

Side Parts

Chrisy Metz and Margot Robbie both rocked a bold red lip with side part and soft waves. We love the natural complexions and groomed brows combo.

Charlize Theron and Brie Larson opted for sleek side parts and a nude lip with subtle monochromatic makeup looks.

Bangs

Another haircut trend we can’t wait to see more of this year is bangs. Zazie Beetz looked stunning with her smokey eyes, nude lip and curly bangs while Saoirse Ronan combined her choppy fringe with a nude lip and winged liner.

Bobs

The bob is predicted to be one of the biggest trends of the year, and Natalie Portman and Lucy Boynton pull off these short crops effortlessly. We also love how Lucy Boynton has embraced the pearl trend with a series of pearls along her side part for an extra glam finish.

Brushed-Up Brows

Brushed-up brows is the beauty trend that’s here to stay in 2020, and Florence Purgh, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonelle Monae showcased the trend flawlessly.

Pixie Crops

The pixie cut is one of the more daring trending haircuts for 2020, but we are absolutely obsessed with it – it looks so sophisticated and effortlessly cool. Kristen Wig and Olivia Coleman both let their hair do the talking and kept the look low-key with monochromatic makeup looks: Kristen chose coral undertones to match her dress, while Olivia went for a rosy hue on her lips and cheeks.

Classic Glam

We were excited to see a few classic glam makeup looks on the red carpet. Salma Hayek went for a super classic updo with stunning hair embellishment, and a rosy lip and defined eyes. Cynthia Erivo looked gorgeous with a peachy lip and cheeks and smokey eye with glam lashes – we’re also seriously impressed with her curated ears literally dripping in Maria Tash jewelry.  No-Makeup Makeup

Okay, we couldn’t not include Billy Porter because he always makes the best red carpet appearances. We are seriously feeling these bold, gold-framed glasses! We were even more impressed when we discovered his makeup artist and hairstylist, Abby Bernabe, used the new e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer, $6, which is one of our fave formulas.
