Wait... Were All Of The Golden Globe Beauty Looks Inspired By TikTok?

Beauty News

tiktok golden globes

You want to know what we learned from the 2023 Golden Globes red carpet? (Other than Jennifer Coolidge is the G.O.A.T and Riri can LIT-ER-ALLY can do know wrong… DUH!) You can never underestimate the power of TikTok. For real, as we were scrolling through the gawgeous celeb beauty looks, it all kinda felt familiar, reminiscent of our late-night screen time binging BeautyTok. We saw siren eyes, manga lashes, grunge, doe eyes, prom updos, and of course, the classic soft glam that lives and thrives on TikTok.

And don’t get it twisted, we’re not saying that ALL of these trends were born on TikTok, but it did make us question – is the beauty community leading the trends as opposed to the fashion houses, glitterati, and the glam squads that serve them? Basically, are celebs following US? It’s kinda a chicken-and-egg situation at this point, but we like to think so. One thing you can’t deny is the similarities between the red carpet and our TikTok feed right now, and we’re here for it.

Keep on scrolling and hear us out as we make our case.

Double Winged Eyeliner

Sometimes it feels like there’s a new TikTok eyeliner trend daily, but there’s one look that always re-enters the chat, and that’s the double-winged liner look. This particular lewk also plays into the transparent liner trend, which was HUGE last year.

Siren Eyes

Jenna is THE girl of the moment, so we knew her look would serve, but this is beyond. Oh, and it’s a mash-up of all of our fave TikTok trends. Siren eyes? Check. Whispy, manga lashes? Check, check. Edgy curtain bangs? But, of course!

Manga Lashes

Liza Koshy also experimented with the spidery, manga lash trend with these stunning long lashes. We’re also here for her micro bangs that remind us of the Audrey Hepburn bang tutorial that went viral last year.

Doe Eyes

You didn’t think we’d mention siren eyes without mentioning her doe-eyed sister, did you? Ana De Armas’ eyes were literally irresistible as she slayed doe eyeliner.

Grunge Glam

This look was titled “Chic Cry Baby Goth” by Emma D’arcy’s MUA, and we’re low-key obsessed. It’s giving major glam grunge energy, AKA one of 2023’s biggest trends, which was in fact born from TikTok trends like goth girl and e-girl. We’re also drooling over the single tear… crying makeup, anyone? #IYKYK

Y2K Prom Updo

Do we even need to give an explanation for this one? She’s a TikTok girlie, for sure.

The Classic TikTok Soft Glam

Okay, so there’s a TikTok makeup look that’s been circulating for the past two years and, honestly, will probably live on BeautyTok forever. And that is glowing skin, blush, soft contour, contoured eyeshadow, maybe a little shimmer, micro liner, fluttery lashes, and a glossy nude lip. PSA: it was everywhere at the Golden Globes.

Just think, there are literally millions of tutorials demonstrating how TikTok creators have created the coveted look, and it makes sense. It’s an easy formula for a beautiful look that’s universally flattering. Well, as it turns out, glam squads have been watching.

Here at HB, we love the look, as no matter what skill level you’re working with, you can get the look at home. It can also be tweaked depending on your facial structure and/or skin tone and can be achieved effortlessly using drugstore beauty staples.

Whispy Curtain Bangs

When you mention TikTok hair trends, curtain bangs always pop up. We mean, the hashtag #curtainbangstutorial has 281 million views, and it seems like Daisy Edgar-Jones has been taking notes.

We couldn’t do a roundup of the 2023 Golden Globes and not mention Rihanna. But as always, she’s the exception, not the rule. We’ll be following Riri’s lead, well, forever.

So what do YOU think? Is TikTok inspiring celebs? Are they taking our beauty notes? Let us know in the comments below.
