Ombré Blush Is The New TikTok Trend That Gives The Sexiest Flush

Complexion

When it comes to beauty hacks and product plugs, TikTok is the gift that keeps on giving. And in their latest hoard of genius beauty tricks is a cool new spin on blusher. Beauty TikTokers have coined it ‘ombré blush’ – a super-easy, 2-step cheek color technique for instantly snatched, high-rise apples. Here’s everything you need to know about the buzzy blush trend.

Mastering A Multi-Tone Flush

Last year, we saw the epic return of the E-girl aesthetic with a Gen-Z-friendly take that also drew inspiration from the 90s and Y2K eras. One beauty style that stood out from the crowd? Ombré E V E R Y T H I N G. From ombré hair, ombré eyes to ombré brows – even the 90s glossy ombré lip made a much-talked-about encore last spring/summer, so it’s no surprise that the current ombré-obsession has now branched out to the cheek area as well.

Originally demoed by makeup gurus Bex Campbell and Danielle Marcan, this new-age cheek color method involves using not one but two shades of a liquid or cream blush. You’re probably wondering, why fork out on two blushers when you can use one? Well, it all comes down to the blush effect it creates. While a single blush adds a unicolor veil to the cheeks, mixing both a dark and light blusher (or different shades) ends up adding dimension to the cheek area that subtly contours and lifts the face.

The Method

  1. Apply your lightest blush shade to only the apples of your cheeks (peach, coral, soft pink, and rose are popular color choices).
  2. After this, grab a deeper blush shade (this should be about three tints darker than the first, so think mauve, deep orange, or berry), adding a few streaks of this to the top of your cheekbones.
  3. Then with a brush or your fingertips, blend the two colors out while bringing them together to create a gradient cheek tint with a soft contoured effect.
