This snatched braid is SO dope – we love the added braided detail at the base of the ponytail. It’s also great if your scalp is feeling a little tender from tight braids; just pull your hair into a slick bun, attach your braid and you’re good to go.

Baby hairs can totally make a look, but when it comes to baby hairs, practice makes perfect. Make sure you have a good hydrating gel or edge control, like the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Max Hold Gel, $10, and either a toothbrush to style and shape or a multi-tasking tool like the Camryn’s BFF Gentle Edges Double-Sided Brush, $2.

If there’s one lesson learned here it’s that a spray bottle is your best friend. For extra hydration add some conditioner, et voila, you’ve got a leave-in conditioner! Always remember to separate and section your hair before you coat it in conditioner to ensure you don’t miss a curl. Oh, and we can’t forget to mention the brush; a good wet brush like the Tangle Teezer The Wet Detangler, $14, will make your life SO much easier as it’ll help detangle and define your curls.

We’re getting major goddess vibes from these faux locs that mean you can get the look while still protecting your curls. The colored rope adds an extra dimension, but if you’re looking to experiment without making a permanent decision, you can always play around with colorful extensions. Plus, once they’re installed, they’re lower maintenance than other braid styles.

If this is your natural curl pattern, then this wrapped style is super easy and quick. If it isn’t, you can use foam rods to create the curl – it may be a little more effort but it’s totally worth it.
