Skincare Rules: My Ultimate Skincare Routine
Hey my loves! So I wanted to share with you guys an update on my skincare routine and all the tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the years. I have far from flawless skin, but I’ve really perfected my skin regime so that when I do get hormonal breakouts, scarring, or fine lines, I know how to shut them down as quickly as possible.
I wanted to show you guys in a video my absolute essential skincare rules and rituals that I live by, so I hope you find this useful! If you want to know more about any of these steps I’ve put ALL the deets below.
Rule 1: Double Cleansing
Honestly, when I started doing this, it made such a huge difference to my skin, and the more I do it, the more I can’t believe that I haven’t always been doing this! Check out our full guide to cleansing here.
For double cleansing, I like to follow an oil cleanse with a gel or foam cleanser, but for the morning, you should use a formula specifically suited to your skin type. Find the right oil cleanser to suit your skin type here, and the right cleanser (foam, cream, gel, milk, water) to suit your skin type here.
Rule 2: Skincare Layering
Making sure you apply your products in the right order is SO important, because if you apply your products in the wrong order, you can actually decrease their effectiveness. Check out more details as to why you should use your products in this order with our guide to skincare layering here.
Step 1: Cleanse
Step 2: Tone

Step 3: Serum
In this video I’m using: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum, $166
I also love: Yeouth Hyaluronic Acid Cream With Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, $30
Check out all the details on serums and why you need one in your skincare routine here.
Step 4: Eye Cream
When you reach your 20s, eye cream is essential, and I’ve noticed a huge difference since I started using these new formulas. It’s important not to tug or pull at the skin, so gently dab eye cream just above your cheekbone – eye creams don’t go directly under the eyes, instead target below, where wrinkles form. Using your ring finger (your fourth finger) gently pat the product into your skin, moving from the outside corner of your eye in towards the nose. You don’t need to go right up to the eye as the product will automatically gravitate up towards the lashline due to the warmth of your body temperature.
Step 5: Moisturizer
Depending on your skin type, you’ll need to choose a moisturizer that will give it the right level of hydration, protection, and active ingredients. Check out our guide to moisturizers for your skin type here.
In this video I’m using: SkinCeuticals Skin Firming Cream
I also love: Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer, $39
Step 6: Facial oil
Face oils add nourishment, vitamins, and antioxidants into your skin, providing everything from oil and fine line control, to brightening and soothing properties – they’re the ultimate final step in your skincare routine. Check out how to make your own DIY face oil here.
In this video I’m using: Rose O12 Moisture Defence Oil, $54
Rule 3: Drink Collagen
I’ve been drinking collagen for at least 18 months now, and I’ve honestly seen a crazy change in my skin and body. Check out my full experience with drinking collagen here.
In this video I’m using: Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
Rule 4: Face Shaving
I know shaving your face sounds absolutely crazy, and it’s not for everyone, but I love that it adds a little exfoliation and removes my peach fuzz, which makes my makeup apply so smoothly! Check out all the Dos and Don’ts of shaving your face here.
Rule 5: Red light therapy
Red light therapy was actually created by NASA to help heal wounds, which is just insane! The red light increases energy in your skin, which triggers a series of reactions that result in new collagen forming, so the more collagen, the less wrinkles, and the quicker any scars heal.
In this video I’m using: Baby Quasor, $476
Rule 6: Dermarolling aka microneedling
This is magical for a multitude of skin issues! A derma-roller is covered in tiny little needles that you roll across your skin, which cause tiny abrasions. Your skin reacts with a rush of blood and collagen, which repairs the area and builds new skin cells. The collagen boost improves skin’s elasticity and plumps your skin, all while diminishing scars and even wrinkles – yay! I recommend sticking to 0.5mm for at home use, but if you have it done in-office, they may use 1mm or above.
In this video I’m using: Airblasters Micro 540 Needles Derma Roller Skin Care Tools/0.5mm, $11
Rule 7: Exfoliating
Exfoliating is SOO essential; it helps remove dead skin, unclog pores, and brighten your skin. It’s also crucial not to over-exfoliate, so never exfoliate more than a few times a week. Check out our guide to exfoliation here.
In this video I’m using: Bliss Micro Magic Skin Renewing Microdermabrasion Scrub, $15, check out my full review of it here.
