This Versace-Approved Eyeshadow Trend Radiates Sex Appeal

Makeup

If there’s one runway that oozes glam and sex appeal every single season, it’s Versace (that’s versa-chay, not versa-chee – we digress!). The SS23 show was no different; we had leather and micro-minis, and as for the beauty looks, well, it was giving grunge glam energy, which we’ve said before, and we’ll say again, is the next BIG beauty trend. Our fave element was the exaggerated wing adorning the eyes of all our fave supermodels, from Gigi and Bella to Imaan Hammam. It’s a statement look that’s equal parts punky and straight-up sexy; it’s actually reminiscent of the Julia Fox eyeshadow look but elevated with a Versa-chay twist.

Here’s everything you need to know.

The Look & Vibe

She’s a statement. She’s a certified #lewk. She’s sexy with a hint of chaos. In beauty lingo? She’s an elongated, exaggerated wing that lifts and accentuates the eye. Oh, and she’s achieved by layering a dark matte eyeshadow under a light shimmer shadow, and of course, plenty of mascara or even falsies, if that’s your vibe.

The graphic shape is by no means new. In fact, Versace has been experimenting with a similar shape for the past few seasons. Previously, it was a layered, brightly colored graphic wing; now, it’s smokier and more intense with deeper shades. It does nod at the infamous Julia Fox eyeshadow look; however, the Versace wing is sharper to help snatch the face.

How to Get the Look

This is a real statement look that relies heavily on a dark eyeshadow, so we recommend doing your eyeshadow first before the rest of your beat to ensure no fallout messes with your complexion.

Step 1: Apply an eyeshadow primer like the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, $25, to ensure your eyeshadow pigment remains poppin’ all day long.

Step 2: Take a deep matte eyeshadow, like a black, dark green, or plum. We’ve been loving the shade CONFIDENT in our newfall beauty trends for more inspo.
