5 Rules I Live By (And Always Will)

Hey my loves! Over the last ten years – ever since I went full blast into the magical world of beauty – my life has been pretty hectic, to say the least. But during that time I’ve also learned a lot about myself, and I’ve come to understand and really prioritize the things that are so important to me, like my family, health, and my team. So I wanted to share with you ‘5 rules’ that I live by – I try to do these things every single day and on the days that I don’t, I can genuinely feel a difference in my body and my mood. I hope you guys find these helpful.

1. Focus on what you put in your body as much as what you put on it

Health is often underestimated, and I really think what we put in our body not only affects us internally but also our mind and our skin. So when it comes to beauty, we often focus on what we’re putting on our skin, but what we put in our bodies really does make a huge impact too.

That’s why I’m really big on vitamins, I try to eat healthily most days – although I cheat at weekends – and I love drinking collagen, which is great for your bones and your skin. I also drink as much water as I can (between two to three liters a day) as being hydrated is so good for your body and your skin.

Gut health is another topic I’m obsessed with, and it’s crazy how an unbalanced gut can affect everything from your skin and sleep to your weight and clarity of mind. So, as well as trying to eat a balanced diet, I also drink Kombucha every morning, which is great for the gut as it contains both probiotic bacteria and prebiotic polyphenols. 2. Never sleep with your makeup on

As well as focusing on what goes in my body, I’m also super picky about what goes on my skin, which is one of the reasons I never, ever sleep with my makeup on. As much as I love to layer on makeup during the day, nighttime is when your skin and body rest and repair. I always start my evening by removing my makeup by double cleansing, then I love to layer on my nighttime skincare routine. Whatever you do, just make sure you take your makeup off at night!

 3. Detox daily

Every single day I do a digital detox for at least an hour. These days, we take our phones absolutely everywhere with us, so much that it’s like we don’t even know how to be alone with our thoughts, which is really unhealthy. So, every evening I detox my body and mind and leave my phone while I have a detox bath – it’s a daily ritual I can’t live without. I mix Epsom salts, green clay and magnesium flakes in the bath and then I lay back and relax and process the day’s events.

4. Always be grateful

Every day I do what I call my ‘morning manifestations’ with my sister Mona, where we say 10 things we’re grateful for – everything from our family, our team and company, and our health. It’s actually been proven that the practice of gratitude every day can make you happier and improve your self-esteem. I really do find this such an important thing to do every day, as no matter what you’re going through, finding things that you’re grateful for is always a powerful reminder of what you do have, and that’s what you should focus on.

5. Go with your gut

It’s hard to put into words, but everybody gets that gut feeling about certain things – an unexplained intuition. Our gut feeling often doesn’t feel logical, which is why sometimes people struggle to go with it, but it’s the one thing that I really rely on. I ALWAYS go with my gut, and I use that feeling as much as possible; you just have to trust your instincts and the way you feel. I truly believe it’s your subconscious speaking to you, it’s helped me make some of the best decisions of my life.
