Often when we see celebs; whether it’s on the TV, red carpet or on our IG feed, we see a very composed, and often, a heavily airbrushed image. Consequently, our idea of beauty and what’s ‘normal’ is completely distorted. It makes us think that airbrushed skin is attainable because it’s everywhere, and sometimes it makes us feel like we’re completely alone in our beauty struggles, more specifically our skin struggles. Newsflash guys, you’re not alone and these seven celebs are here to remind us of that.

1. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz rarely shies away from a conversation; whether it’s about her pubic hair or her acne, and we love her for it. In her book ‘The Body Book,’ she opened up about her struggles with acne saying, “It was embarrassing, and I did everything I could think of to make it go away… The pimples were still there through high school and into my twenties, while I was modeling and acting. It was really challenging to cover them up for the cameras; it was awkward and embarrassing and frustrating, and I always felt really bad about myself.” Sometimes it’s just comforting to know that someone else is feeling the way you’re feeling. Thanks for sharing Cameron, please don’t stop!

2. Taylor Hill

When Taylor Hill strutted down the Victoria’s Secret runway a couple of weeks ago, we were quite literally drooling. She looked stunning – her skin was glistening, her hair was sexy AF, and her body? We can’t. Two weeks later when she posted a gorgeous sun-kissed selfie with no hint of airbrushing, it reminded us that just like everyone else, she gets pimples too and she still looks just as gorgeous as on the catwalk.

 3. Kim Kardashian West

If you’re a fan of Keeping Up With The Kardashians you’ll already know and have seen that both Kim and Kylie have the common skincare condition psoriasis. However, now Kim has overcome her insecurities about it: “I don’t even really try to cover it that much anymore. Sometimes I just feel like it’s my big flaw and everyone knows about it, so why cover it?” Our thoughts exactly!

 4. Rihanna

In our opinion, Rihanna can do no wrong  if she’s not serving us some seriously bomb makeup, it’s dope runway looks or Savage lingerie. But she’s not just providing us with the goods, she’s also unapologetically speaking her mind. In a recent interview with Star she said “I have an ugly day every month; pimples on my face, I’m fat and in a bad mood. It’s more like an ugly week.” Reminding us that celebs, just like us, sometimes have a bleugh day. Whenever we’re not feeling it, we like to put on some Ariana (as loud as physically possible) and have a dance party. Check out this post for 5 ways to instantly feel sexy whenever you’re having one of those days.

5. Katy Perry

Katy Perry is pretty open about the fact that she’s struggled with acne since she was a teen, telling Cosmopolitan, “One of the insecurities is that I have acne scars.” Although acne scars are nothing to be embarrassed about, it’s also quite comforting to know that someone else is going through the same thing. It also serves as a reminder that your skin concerns don’t define you, you are beautiful the way you are, just like Katy Perry.

Katy also said that she used Proactiv to combat her acne, and at one point she was even an ambassador for the brand, however, she also said “Proactiv doesn’t pay me anymore — I have no relationship with them besides the fact that they’ve helped me so much. When I was 23, I had really bad skin: I had spent thousands and thousands of dollars on dermatologists and lasers, and then I started using [Proactiv] and I still use it to this day. I don’t use the entire Proactiv +3 Step System, $24, just the exfoliant, and the toner.”

6. SZA

So often we pile on the skincare as soon as a breakout hits. However, recently when speaking about her acne troubles, R&B singer SZA reminded us to give our skin a break and just let it breathe. She told Refinery 29, “Don’t get discouraged with your skin when it doesn’t do what you want it to do. Give it some time.” She also said that she prefers natural ingredients to soothe her acne such as a Manuka honey mask or hemp oil, which we’re totally here for. So remember, the next time you’re getting worried about a pimple or a breakout, give your skin a little time out and don’t be so hard on yourself or your skin.

7. Chrissy Teigen

This woman comes through with the sauce on a daily basis. If she’s not having her say in American politics, she’s normalizing female issues like breastfeeding and period skin. Yup period skin – we’ve all experienced it at one point but often we try to conceal it, rather than showcasing it to the rest of the world like Chrissy. Ok so we’re not suggesting that you need to take a no makeup selfie mid-period (if you do, we’re here for it), but just remember that a breakout is nothing to be ashamed of: we literally all get pimples, even A-List celebs.
