New-Beauty-Discoveries

There are new beauty products hitting the shelves every day, which means sometimes new and indie brands get lost in the noise! So, we’re bringing you five new indie beauty brands that you need on your radar. From an extremely hydrating serum by an Icelandic skincare brand to the best-smelling haircare we’ve ever tried, a sonic toothbrush and an essential body butter, here are some amazing new product discoveries you probably haven’t heard of yet.

Ixora

This new brand has an interesting history that starts with the founder and creator, Dr. Nader Sheasha, whose scientific and practical experience in herbal medicine and the natural and organic cosmeceutical beauty industry led him to create this organic, nature-focused skincare collection. The products combine his experience and passion in traditional formulations with the latest biotechnology and ingredients with the highest quality and maximum concentration of organic botanical extracts. The brand now holds the highest level of organic certification, the COSMOS Organic Certificate.

Although we’ve not yet tried everything from the brand (yet), which has a full range from an SPF 40 sunscreen to soap bars and facial oils, we’re now lifelong fans of their Hydrating Face Cleansing Gel, $49. The formula is designed for dry skin – thanks to its non-foaming formula – but it’s actually an ideal wash for all skin types thanks to its non-stripping, soothing and hydrating formula, and we now use it every morning on our sometimes oily, acne-prone skin! The gel cleanser is enriched with nourishing jojoba seed oil, hydrating and protective shea butter rich in vitamin E, aloe leaf juice, raw honey, and other natural skin-soothing ingredients. It also comes in a super convenient pump bottle and is 250ml – so this wash will last you months!

Fable and Mane

Launching at the very beginning of 2020, Fable and Mane is a new haircare brand inspired by these sibling founders’ Indian heritage and personal experiences with traditional Indian beauty techniques and ingredients. Not only do their products smell incredibly divine – they work with a world-renowned creative perfumer in Paris – but the ingredients are like a feast for thirsty hair.

fable and mane HoliRoots Hair Mask

We’ve fallen in love with the HoliRoots Hair Mask, $32, a repairing, rich cream mask, which blends healing coconut cream, mango butter, and banana with hydrating aloe, glycerin, and shea butter. Other than the fact that it makes our hair feel incredibly soft and nourished and seemingly helps smooth the appearance of split ends, it also makes our hair smell incredible – the fragrance is a blend of flora from the tiger orchid, Indian jasmine sambac, coconut milk and banana. We use this once a week or post styling with heat to revive our locks.

fable and mane HoliRoots Hair Oil

Their other essential treatment includes an ayurvedic-inspired hair treatment oil, the HoliRoots Hair Oil, $34, which harnesses the healing, stress-relieving properties of Ashwagandha to soothe your scalp and strengthen your hair. A blend of roots, called Dashmool, help improve hair thickness while jojoba seed oil, sesame and castor oil nourish the hair shaft. The treatment oil should be massaged into the scalp while hair is dry before cleansing (leave overnight if you can), and then rinsed out before your usual hair washing routine.

Beyond the stunning packaging and potent, healing formulas, we also love that this brand goes beyond clean beauty and also gives back to wildlife charities that restore the habitats of endangered tigers.

Spotlight Sonic Toothbrush, $149

Spotlight sonic toothbrush

This oral care brand has been around the longest, but it’s still relatively under the radar, which is surprising considering it’s so good – it’s also founded by two badass dentist sisters, which we love. Anyway, we’ll go straight ahead and say that we never thought we’d get excited about a toothbrush, especially one with such a lux price tag, but once we tried this, the hype was real. To skip to the juicy details, imagine this: no more bleeding gums (thanks to the more gentle bristles and sonic tech, which means you don’t need to attack your teeth), it looks so clean and pretty, the battery lasts 70 days, it auto powers off after two minutes so you don’t overbrush, and it has three settings – sensitive, clean, whitening – so you can brush depending on how your teeth feel.

If you’ve already gone down the electric toothbrush route (we’d been using our classic Oral B for six years), then you’ll be familiar with some of the common irritations; brushing too hard can cause gum bleeding and even receding gums in places (true story), you’ll prob also get dripping white marks over your countertop, and the weekly charging isn’t always ideal. None of those things are deal-breakers though. Until we tried the Spotlight Sonic Toothbrush, and we were kind of mind blown – mainly at first, because the sonic vibrations tickled until we got used to it

We know it sounds dramatic, but the factors above made a big difference to our daily brush. It’s not cheap – although it’s actually on par with most electric toothbrushes – but if you’re having any teeth issues, constantly experiencing bleeding gums or sensitivity, then this is definitely a worthwhile investment. It also comes with three brush heads, so you’re set for nine months.

Smile Natural Products Relax Body Butter, $30,

smile natural products body butter

If like us, you’re all about having a few moments of major calm and chill in your life – we all need it right now – then this heavenly-scented body butter is here to sweeten up your self-care routine. It’s made with detoxifying Himalayan sea salt, skin-nourishing sweet almond oil, antioxidant-rich vitamin E to hydrate and protect the skin, and anti-inflammatory lavender essential oil, which also gives this butter it’s incredible scent.

The brand creates only natural, non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free products and they don’t stop at body butter either. Their whole ethos is to create ethical hygiene products that are sustainably sourced, make people happy, and do good things for the community and the world, which we think is a pretty awesome concept. Next on our list to try is their Refresh Black Soap Body Wash.

AK Pure Skin

Created by Icelandic power couple, Kristbjörg and Aron, the pair were passionate about harnessing the natural properties of pure Icelandic water to create a unisex skincare line that would work for everyone. The pair teamed up with Iceland’s leading cosmetics producers to create a brand that harnessed the best ingredients along with the powers of Pure Icelandic water.

AK Skin face mask

We have to say, we are impressed! The intensely hydrating Face Gel Mask, $34, is ideal for a post-flight pick me up, post-sun healing sesh or just whenever your skin feels dehydrated or dry. The formula boasts skin-calming cucumber, soothing calendula, hydrating aloe and glycerin, pure Icelandic water, and skin-nourishing jojoba seed oil to lock in moisture. The rinse-off mask leaves skin feeling smooth, soft, and plumped.

AK Pure Skin hydrating serum

We’re also huge fans of their Hydrating Serum, $54.50, which as the name suggests, deeply hydrates! The rich formula is thick but non-sticky and blends into the skin almost like water. As well as classic hydrators like sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), glycerin, and panthenol, it also contains anti-inflammatory burdock root extract and potent ivy leaf extract, which is known for its hydrating and skin-soothing properties. We apply it after toner and before our other treatment serums and our skin instantly feels plumped and refreshed.
