How-To-Do-Soap-Brows

Much like a new haircut or hair color, laminated brows are a serious commitment. And for paranoid folks like us, the thought of committing to the unknown is just downright anxiety-inducing. But this is when the beauty of trial runs comes to play. For those who have been itching to try the new brow perm trend but find yourself feeling a little doubtful in the days leading up to your appointment — our advice? Scrap the appointment for now and just fake it till (you ready) to make it, sis.

Heard of soap brows? It’s literally the hottest brow style on Tik Tok right now (the hashtag ‘soap brows’ currently has 159 million views alone), and the best part, it’s 100% foolproof too. All it entails is just 3-4 simple steps (and around 3 minutes of your time), and you’ll live your best Cara Delevingne brow dream.

Step 1: Your Tools

  • A disposable mascara wand — you can find packs of these on Amazon, Walmart, and at any beauty supply store.
  • Setting spray — Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray, $33, is a recurring cult fave in Tik Tok tutorials.
  • And lastly, glycerin soap, which is vouched for in achieving the soap brow effect as it’s far gentler on the skin than traditional cleansing bars. Glycerin formulas are typically infused with natural oils for added moisture, and they do one heck of a job in coating and plastering hairs down in place. Think of it as an extra-hold hairspray for your brows but ten times better. Pear’s Transparent Glycerin Bar Soap, $6, for two, is a holy grail Tik Tok item RN that we use religiously as well, to achieve the best brows ever.

Now that we’ve got your tools covered, let’s finally get down to the fun part…

Step 2: How-To

  1. Dampen the top of your glycerin soap bar with some setting spray — 1-2 spritzes max is a good amount.
  2. Rub the bristles of a clean mascara wand against the damp area until the bristles are completely covered with product. We like to begin with a light coat of product first as we gradually build our snatched soap brow look. Keep in mind that thicker brow hairs will require a bit more soap, so essentially it’s all about trial and error and what works best for you. With your wand, maneuver your brow hairs to create your desired shape and arch, ensuring you always brush in a slanted or upward motion. This will leave you with a thicker brow appearance that’ll give the eye area a snatched and more lifted finish. Once you’re happy with your upgraded brows, don’t be afraid to slather on more soap for one last double-proof seal.
  3. Fill in any gaps or sparse spaces with a brow pencil or pomade. We obviously have to give a shoutout to our #BOMBBROWS Microshade Brow Pencil, $17, which features an ultra-thin tip (0.9mm to be exact) for the wispiest, feathery, hair-like strokes. You’ll honestly fall in love once you try it.
  4. The final but key step, cleaning them up with some concealer for defined and crispier edges.

Daaaaamn, your brows look good!
