They say ‘Dress for the job you want, not the one you have,’ but we wouldn’t necessarily recommend showing up to the office in lingerie and angel wings. So, it’s best to save your inner VS angel for your spare time. If like us, you were sporting a messy bun, eating a pint of ice cream, and bopping along to Shawn Mendes and wondering how they do it, then we’re here to tell you that getting VS gorgeous is actually pretty easy, and you don’t have to change out of your sweats to sport the look. The Victoria’s Secret hair and makeup are always effortless and chic, channeling models’ inner beauty and letting the extravagant outfits take center stage. And, trust us, you’ve got this look in the bag.

Skin Prep:

Whether you’re naturally dewy or not, it’s super easy to fake it. The key to flawless, glowing skin is prep, prep, prep. Start by using a gentle cleanser to ensure you don’t dry out your skin or remove too much moisture. If you have dry or normal skin, apply a little facial oil and give yourself a light massage to increase blood flow and glow. Try MAC’s Prep + Prime Essential Oils Grapefruit & Chamomile, $27, for a healthy-looking glow that also primes your skin in preparation for makeup application.

If you’re naturally on the oily side, skip the face oil, as you don’t want to overdo the amount of oil on your skin. A hydrating facial serum and light gel moisturizer will do the trick, and you can fake a little extra glow with a liquid highlighter as a base. For the VS Show they used the Hollywood Flawless Filter by Charlotte Tilbury, $44, which works wonders under or combined with your foundation for the perfect dewy finish.

Hair:

In true Victoria’s Secret style, the Angels’ hair was styled in a very ‘I woke up like this’ way. But, as we all know, no one can really achieve that look by simply waking up. Toning it down from the runway’s usual bouncy waves, the show’s lead hairstylist, Anthony Turner opted for effortless waves. Just like you get when you’ve spent a day at the beach… sometimes.

Beach waves: For the perfect beach waves start by applying a small amount of volumizing mousse to damp hair and run it through from root to tip with your fingers. Use ‘scrunching’ motions all the way down, focusing on your roots for extra lift. By using a small amount, you ensure that the mousse lifts rather than weighs down your hair by making it too heavy, so remember to start small! A great mousse for extra body is the Kérastase Densifique Bodifying Mousse, $37.

Now, split your hair into two equal sections, then whip it up into two buns on either side of your head, twisting your hair away from your face – it doesn’t have to be neat, the messier, the better. Let it air-dry or use a cool, gentle setting on your hairdryer. Blasting your hair with heat can cause your products to become too warm and sticky.

Once your hair is dry, take the buns out and play around with the curls until it sits where you’d like it to. Avoid running your fingers through your hair once it’s dry as that can result in frizz by adding too much friction to your hair. If you have fine, flat hair, spray it lightly with a holding hairspray to ensure it stays put.

Makeup:

Is there a VS Angel more iconic than Gisele Bündchen? Head makeup artist at the runway, the legendary Charlotte Tilbury, took inspiration from Bündchen for the 2018 show’s makeup. According to a statement issued, Tilbury wanted the models to have “An angelic filter to enhance what nature naturally blessed [them] with.” The best way to achieve a natural look is by using light, creamy products that blend with the skin, rather than matte powders, which can tend to sit heavily on the skin.

Foundation: Use a light or medium coverage foundation depending on what level of coverage you’re comfortable with. A CC cream or BB cream is perfect for achieving that ‘natural’ look, and you can always use concealer under your eyes and to cover any blemishes. However, as a general rule for this look, avoid any matte products on the skin.

Blush: Opt for a cream stick blush like this two-in-one On-The-Glow Blush and Illuminator by Wander Beauty, $42  – which comes with a creamy blush and highlighter. Dab a small amount on the apples of your cheeks and blend lightly away from the center of your face, towards your cheekbones. Follow with a cream highlighter along your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and your Cupid’s bow.

Bronzer: Lightly sculpt your cheekbones, jawline, and temples with a subtle dusting of bronzer to achieve a sun-kissed look. Again, keep it soft!

Eyes: The eyes are so important for this look! The New Nude Palette is perfect for creating a nude, shimmering look. Start by sweeping the shade Bare across your lids and up to your brow bone as a base, then use the shade Play over your lids and up to the crease – blend like that VS Angel title depends on it! Then, using your finger, apply Daydream over your lids and into the inner corners of your eyes for a wide-eyed, “I could walk this runway all day” look. Line your eyes with a soft, brown kohl pencil and smudge out to soften. Add volume and length to your lashes with a mascara – here’s where you can get a little heavier, so coat your lashes with a few layers of mascara and don’t forget to curl them beforehand. We love the L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara, $10, for insane volume and length.

Lips: Gloss. Is. Back. And, we couldn’t be happier. Line your lips with a pretty pink lip liner like Make Up Forever’s Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in Rosewood, $20, then follow with a creamy pink lipstick. Again, don’t go too far away from your natural lip color – you’re enhancing what you’ve already got. Then top off the look with a lipgloss. If you’re feeling like a little extra enhancement, use a lip-plumping gloss and you’re good to go!

We love this looks for a sexy daytime look at the weekend, when would you let your inner VS model out?
