matte and strobe kits

Hey my loves! We recently launched our Matte & Strobe collections – two mini Liquid Mattes and two mini Lip Strobes – and I wanted to show you guys how I use them to contour my lips. They’re just SO versatile –  I’m constantly layering the different colors and textures for a completely original look. That’s what inspired us to create these Matte & Strobe kits, so you can play around with the different color combos and create your signature look, whether that’s a chic AF matte contour look or a glowy, glossy lip. Not only can you combine the four shades however you like, but they’re all mini, so you can fit them in your purse for touch-ups on the go.

The Matte & Strobe Sets

Here’s how I like to use mine:

Keep it simple: I chose the shade selection, so they look stunning in loads of different combos, but they’re also gorgeous on their own too. Sometimes when I’m rocking a really dramatic eye, I keep it simple with my lips and use a matte. For perfect application, make sure you prep your lips before with an exfoliating lip scrub and a little oil or lip balm to create an even canvas. If you don’t have a scrub, you can use a little sugar and either scrub with your finger or a toothbrush. The pearl pigments in the Lip Strobes are so pretty, and they’re also great for when you’re on the go, as they make your lips look so full and juicy, and you don’t have to worry about neat application as they’re glossy.

Contour for a fuller pout: Anyone who knows me knows how serious I am about lip contouring: It’s such a simple hack, and it literally takes one minute and makes the biggest difference. Once I’ve contoured my lips with a lip liner, the final touch that makes them pop is to add a little highlight to the center of the bottom and upper lip with a Lip Strobe, which creates the illusion of fuller lips. Here’s how I contour my lips before I apply my strobe:

Layer it up: One of my fav ways to sculpt and add volume to my lips is to layer a Liquid Matte and a Lip Strobe. The reflective pigments in the Lip Strobes add dimension and make your lips look so much fuller, while the Liquid Mattes are so rich and super long-lasting. I apply my Liquid Matte first (give it a minute to dry), followed by a Lip Strobe, and then I like to blot my lips gently with a tissue so that only the shimmers are left, which gives a really sexy, semi-matte look.
