Jojoba

What Is Jojoba Oil?

A plant native to North America, jojoba produces a rich, golden wax that mimics your skin’s natural oils. Now, you don’t need to pronounce it properly to enjoy its benefits (it’s ho-ho-ba, by the way). All that really matters is what this do-it-all ingredient can do for your skin – not only does it hydrate and rejuvenate, it fights eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne and a whole host of other skin concerns.

What Does Jojoba Oil Do?

A superfood for your skin, jojoba is chock-full of goodness. Unlike oils, the wax structure of Jojoba means it not only moisturizes but provides long-lasting, 24-hour hydration. And, because the wax is almost identical to the natural sebum produced by your skin, it penetrates deep below the surface.

Rich in vitamin A, D, and E, jojoba fights premature aging, banishing wrinkles and fine lines, while helping skin cells regenerate and keeping breakouts at bay (winning).

As if that wasn’t enough, jojoba also nourishes and protects against environmental aggressors, while offering up seriously skin-soothing benefits. And, while it’s a miracle worker for your skin, this multi-tasker also features in hair products, thanks to its conditioning capabilities – transforming tangled manes into soft, shiny locks.

Who Should Use Jojoba

Super-gentle and non-irritating, jojoba is perfect for every skin type – it balances oily skin, soothes sensitive complexions, hydrates dry patches and even combats acne.

How To Use It In Your Routine

Jojoba can be used in a variety of ways, from makeup remover to lip conditioner. While jojoba beads make amazing eco-friendly manual exfoliators, we like to use it as a moisturizer. Just add a jojoba-infused moisturizer to your skincare routine and apply it morning and night for best results. If you’d prefer to use pure jojoba extract, make sure it’s 100% organic and cold-pressed. We love to use this Leven Rose Jojoba Oil, $14, after moisturizers as part of our nighttime skincare routine.
