If you live and breathe for a matte makeup look, then we get you; it’s pore-minimizing and long-lasting qualities make it a timeless look. Plus, a radiant matte canvas gives you plenty of space to be bold with the rest of your makeup, and let’s not forget it’s every oily person’s savior! So, to ensure your matte makeup look stays matte and flawless all through summer, we’ve got all the makeup tips and hacks you need to keep it on lock:

Your Step-by-Step Guide for a Natural Matte Look:

Step 1. Using half a pump of #FauxFilter Foundation, apply it all over your face using the Buff & Blend Brush. For more coverage, use a full pump, then finish with a damp Basic B Blending Sponge for the ultimate airbrushed finish.

Step 2. Select a shade of Overachiever Concealer that’s one or two shades lighter than your skin tone (check out our shade-matching guide here) and apply with the cooling metal tip under the eyes, and on the center of your chin, nose, and forehead to brighten up the face. Blend it out using a damp Basic B Blending Sponge.

Step 3. Apply Tantour under your cheekbones, around your chin and forehead, using the sculpt end of our Sculpt & Shade Brus. Then, blend it out with the shade end of the brush!

Tip: Choose a darker shade of Tantour for a more sculpted look.

Step 4. Dip your Basic B Blending Sponge into the creamy melted strobe shade of any of our 3D Highlighter Palettes and apply it to the very tops of your cheekbones to add dimension to the look.

Tip: If you have oily skin, dip a big fluffy brush in Easy Bake Loose Setting Powder and dust it over your face, then use a smaller brush to set the concealer under your eyes.

Step 6. Finish with a spritz of Resting Boss Face to mattify and lock in your look.

Natural Matte Makeup Tips:

  • If you’re prone to getting shiny through the day, start by applying a matte primer like the Huda Beauty Matte Perfection Primer, which will absorb oil and grip your makeup in place.
  • For daytime, we love to add a dusting of blusher to the apples of our cheeks and across our cheekbones.
  • For evening, we like to go a little heavier with our contour (why not?) and amp up the highlighter on our cheekbones.
