When it comes to hydration, honey is an overachiever. Not only is honey a humectant, which means it attracts moisture to hydrate the surface of your skin, it’s also a natural emollient, so it’ll soften and plump your skin too. This is why it’s the main ingredient in our WISHFUL Honey Balm Jelly Moisturizer, $49, which will not only lock-in moisture for up to 24 hours but blur the appearance of pores and restore uneven skin tone.

Our go-to hydrating honey DIY: For a quick and easy DIY, simply apply honey to cleansed skin and leave it on for 10 to 12 minutes. Rinse with warm water, and you’ll be amazed at how soft and smooth your skin feels. Alternatively, for sexy, smooth skin, add a tablespoon of raw manuka honey into your bath – it smells amazing and is insanely hydrating.

It’s important always to use raw honey, which means it’s unprocessed and retains all its natural goodness – processed honey is heated, which means many of the natural benefits are destroyed.

Honey Can Soothe & Calm Acne-Prone Skin

Honey is nature’s healer and boasts antibacterial and antiviral properties, although it’s not been proven to kill acne bacteria in the skin. However, one major benefit of honey is its potent anti-inflammatory properties that can calm the skin and reduce swelling and take down redness. Thanks to honey being full of peptides, fatty acids, amino acids, and antioxidants, this can help reduce redness and fade post-pimple marks more quickly.

Studies have even shown that honey acts as a therapeutic agent for skin disorders, given that it has anti-fungal properties that naturally calm the skin.

Our go-to DIY for acne-prone skin: The next time you’re experiencing a breakout, grab a Q-tip and some raw honey and gently dab the honey onto your pimple.

Honey’s Bursting with Skin-Firming Antioxidants

Honey is literally bursting with goodness that can help protect your skin from harmful environmental aggressors that lead to premature aging. Not only does honey contain 12 different vitamins, but it also contains 18 amino acids, not to mention antioxidants that work together to defend the skin from sag-inducing, glow-destroying free radicals.

Our go-to skin-nourishing DIY honey mask:

1/4 cup oats (natural exfoliator)
1/4 cup of water
3 drops of lavender oil (soothing and calming) skip this if you have sensitive skin
4 tablespoons of honey

Gently cook the oats with the same amount of water until soft (around five mins), then leave to cool for 20 minutes. Stir in the lavender oil and honey. Using a brush or your fingers, apply the mask to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and follow with a hydrating moisturizer.
