The Secret To Beautiful Skin Is… Snail Slime?
Having snails crawl over your face is the new way to look younger and more beautiful? I know, it sounds crazy! Actually, it sounds gross, because, just ewww! But believe it or not, snail slime has been proven to have some pretty awesome ingredients in it. Snail secretion is really rich in nutrients that contain hyaluronic acid, copper peptides, and a ton of other components that stimulate collagen and elastin production, and it’s super hydrating as it contains around 95% water. Fortunately, you don’t have to let these garden critters anywhere near your face! When the mucus is used in beauty products it’s processed and filtered multiple times, so not only does this thoroughly clean the slime, but it also increases its concentration – slightly less icky! It’s also used to treat wrinkles, acne, age spots and repair damaged tissue, so it’s a multitasking magic slime – well, that’s how I like to see it.
So, for the last few years I’ve been using the Tony Moly Intense Care Snail Gold 24k Hydrogel Mask, and honestly, I swear this is probably one of the most amazing products I have ever used for hydrating my face. If you ever feel like your skin is lackluster, dull, or dry, then this is the best thing to use.
What it is: A gel face mask made with 24K gold, fermented snail mucus essence, ginseng extracts, and Epidermal Growth Factor (a polypeptide developed to stimulate cells to encourage collagen production).
What it does: The mask gives skin amazing radiance! The gold brightens and stimulates the skin to improve blood circulation, while the ginseng extracts perfect skin tone. The snail mucus increases the skin’s elasticity for smooth and supple skin and improves fine lines and wrinkles.
What we liked: I LOVE this product! I use it before photoshoots if my skin needs a little lift, while I’m on a plane, or just at the weekends when my skin needs hydration. It’s super slimy, but it smells amazing so it’s not icky at all. I have super sensitive skin, so I was worried this would break me out, but because it’s water based it doesn’t at all, and it just leaves my skin looking super fresh and feeling plumped. I love that there’s plenty of slime to go around too, so whatever’s left in the bag, I smother on my neck and décolletage for good measure. The coolest thing about this, is that I actually feel like I’m wearing makeup afterward, it really perfects my skin and makes it glow!
What we didn’t like: All that slime makes for a pretty slippery mask! It’s kind of annoying to keep on, so you just have to try not to talk too much and keep your head tilted back for about half an hour – although it is a great excuse to switch off!
This is me the first time I tried out one of the Tony Moly snail masks a few years ago. I’ve been a loyal fan ever since!
