Other than the obvious reasons to fall in love – you know, being a total stunna’ and all around gem – Olivia Culpo is killin’ the game and captivating us along the way. When we decided to do lash collabs with women that inspired us, we knew we had to work with Olivia Culpo; model, actress, Miss Universe winner, beauty addict, and self-proclaimed “Queen of self-help books and quotes.” That’s just for starters! A scroll down Olivia’s Instagram highlights her unique fashion sense and style while her lesser-known accolades include her cello and cooking skills – she is the epitome of hard working!
When it comes to makeup, Olivia is a girl after our own hearts; she told us “Makeup is self-expression and beauty comes from within.” Just like us, Olivia finds that makeup has so much more value than just it’s aesthetic: “Taking that time to be creative, I find that it helps me with loving myself, not because of the makeup per se, but because of the time I am spending on myself. Investing in yourself feels like self-love,” and we couldn’t agree more!
So, we asked Olivia 10 questions, to find out everything from the challenges she’s overcome and her dreams for the future, to the makeup look that makes her feel powerful and her fave drugstore products. Try not to fall in love…
1. Tell us about your journey; what challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
“I really believe I got to where I am today by waking up each day and continuing to put an effort into my career, my relationships, and my health. All you can do is keep working on yourself and growing, and little by little you start to see an amazing result. I do come up against new challenges all the time, but I try to look at them as a part of my journey, and I try to learn from them. For anyone out there struggling with their own challenges, this interview might simplify it, but just know you are not alone.”
2. What has been the highlight of your career so far?
“I try to live in the moment as much as possible, which is tough in this mobile/tech world. I have had so many highlights, including traveling the world, collaborating with amazingly creative people like Huda and meeting new faces along the way. Being able to talk to so many young women on a daily basis, who I feel so connected to through social media has been the biggest highlight. I just really love my young fans.”
3. What women in the beauty and fashion industry inspire you?
Huda, obviously – she is an amazing example of a powerful female entrepreneur. I am also amazed every day by many of my friends including Jen Atkin, Danielle Bernstein, Jennifer Fisher and Cara Santana.”
4. What do you dream of doing in the future?
“I honestly have so many dreams. I love so many areas I get to work in, and I want to keep focusing on acting, designing, beauty, and being a restaurateur. Of course, I have days where I feel uninspired, but in all honesty, what keeps me going every day is knowing there are girls out there that want their dreams to come true also. I want to show them that if I can do it, they can do it too. This is the era of female power!
5. Makeup makes us feel empowered; what makeup look makes you feel powerful?
My most powerful make-up look is a cat-eye, dewy skin and glossy mauve lip because I feel sexy yet understated.
6. Do you feel as if there’s a stereotype or any pressure that comes from your beauty pageant background?
“I think that everyone’s journey is unique and that is what makes it so special. I never really paid too much attention to the stereotypes because I hadn’t been in any beauty pageants prior to Miss Rhode Island. I can see how pageants, and even life in general, can create a pressure to look perfect. I feel that sometimes, but I work very hard to push that away and find confidence in myself. I would like to think the parts of me that are the most beautiful are on the inside.”
7. You’ve worked with some of the top MUAs and stylists in the game, what hair styling tips or makeup hacks have you learned from them?
“There are so many hacks I have learned from them, including filling in your hairline with hair powder to create a more seamless hairline and making a red lip matte with powder – and it will stay in place forever.”
8. You’re known for your killer brows; how do you keep your brows so damn perfect?
“Well to be honest with you I was made fun as a kid because I had such bushy eyebrows. I get them from my dad and the Italian side of my family. Now they are in style – who would have known? I don’t use too much product because they are so coarse, but I do keep them in place with a little hairspray on a clean mascara wand or Givenchy brow gel.”

9. What are your top three drugstore products?
“Neutrogena face wipes, Aquaphor and coconut oil.”
