Buttne, bacne, chestne; it sounds cute, but it’s a pain in our butts – literally! Body acne affects most of us at some point in our lives, whether it’s the occasional pimple on our chest and shoulders, or painful booty spots! While body acne is no big deal, if we can find a super easy, stress-less way of getting rid of it, then we’re definitely going to try it, especially if it costs less than $8.

What could be easier than replacing your regular body wash with one that keeps pesky pimples at bay while it cleans your body? We tried the Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash, $7.50, and were seriously impressed with the results! The formula, which contains 2% salicylic acid, is an acne-fighting ingredient we swear by.

Saliciylic acid is a BHA (beta hydroxy acid), which is kinda like an exfoliating AHA (alpha hydroxy acid), except it’s actually more oil-soluble and can penetrate deeper into your pores. This is good because salicylic acid is able to penetrate deeply, and dissolve the ‘glue’ that combines dead skin cells that can block your pores. It can also help to reduce sebum (aka oil) production, and it even has anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe breakouts – so it’s fighting pimples on three levels!

So, now you know how this star ingredient works, you’re wondering; does it actually work? Yes! We use this once or twice a day, and we noticed, in just three weeks, there was an improvement in the amount of pimples, and that any existing pimples cleared up much more quickly. As this is a treatment, we try to give ourselves a long lathering session to make sure the ingredients really have time to act and penetrate the skin – so it’s a great excuse for a longer shower!

Have you guys tried an acne body wash before? We’re super pleased with the results!
