Ok, if you follow me on Twitter, you know, I like to Tweet!  Not only about the low-down on beauty, but also my life! Last night, I was starving and I realized that I only 3 meals the entire day, half of the daily requirement for a healthy metabolism–NOT good! I felt compelled to share to the importance of eating 5-6 times per day, but more importantly, why we should.

I get a lot of emails about women and their body image. Unfortunately, most women have completely the wrong image of themselves, which is why eating disorders arise and have become so common.  Here the deal, if you really want to lose weight, eat more! My favorite weight loss book, Body for Life, truly guides you through a healthy diet. If you don’t eat every 3-4 hours, your body sends signals to your brain telling it that it is in famine. What happens next? Not so good! Your body then begins to break down your muscles and turns them into fat. You know those really skinny people that are super soft, that’s what you start to become! Then, when you do eat, your body will start to store all of the fat in the food you eat, instead of burn it!

Our bodies are amazing machines, but we need to know how to use them and how to get the most out of them. Imagine having a killer bod and being able to eat whatever you want. Ok, maybe not everything, but being able to eat more frequent knowing that your body will burn off most of the calories you take in. My sister is a great example! She is super thin, but she has not one ounce of unnecessary fat on her! Her body, touch wood, is better than mine and she is 10 years older than me! Sure genetics help, but eating plays one of the biggest roles in looking and feeling great!

Remember, eat every 2-3 hours and eat small low-fat, balanced meals and snacks! I highly recommend reading Body for Life! It’s a great book and gives you all the info you need to be healthy and feel great!
