5 Reasons Why You Need Jojoba Oil in Your Life!
Sometimes you come across an ingredient and wonder, where has this been all my life?
Well, that was us when we discovered jojoba oil. In its pure form, it’s like the fairy godmother of oils: it’s good for your skin and hair, can help to soften the appearance of wrinkles, improve acne, and can basically be used as an all-around beautifying serum. Although it’s technically a wax, it’s amazingly moisturizing, non-toxic, doesn’t block pores, and is non-allergenic. It’s also full of minerals and vitamin E, and it’s an antioxidant that protects from free radicals – it can literally do no wrong. Here are five awesome uses for jojoba oil:
Acne and oily skin: First off, it penetrates the hair follicles where sebum builds up and acts as a deep cleanser to dissolve the sebum that causes blackheads. Because the waxy structure of jojoba oil is so similar to human sebum, it actually tricks acne-prone skin into believing it has produced enough, so that your skin produces less – interesting! Jojoba oil is also a potent anti-fungal agent and is full of antibacterial properties that curb acne-causing bacteria. Because it’s like a liquid wax, it also acts as a barrier against dirt while its anti-inflammatory properties further treat acne. Use 4-5 drops of jojoba oil before make-up or up to six at night – six or more can be too heavy on your skin.
Anti-aging: Jojoba oil is rich in antioxidants and contains vitamin B complex, which combined, helps soothe fine lines and wrinkles.
Make-up removal: Like coconut oil, jojoba oil is an amazing natural make-up remover that easily flushes away dirt and make-up, as well as bacteria on your skin.
Hair loss and healing: Let’s face it, we’d all love a bit more hair, and hair is more easily able to grow when moisture is restored, and the scalp is in a healthy state. Blocked hair follicles can be caused by excess sebum production or excess product build-up, a possible reason for hair loss. Jojoba oil works to nix pores and treat any fungal bacteria. The oil also helps to promote new growth by stimulating scalp circulation, thereby encouraging new hair cells to develop. Gently warm one tablespoon of jojoba oil and rub it into your scalp 30 minutes before shampooing to improve hair health, reduce dandruff, and detox your scalp. Use 1 or 2 drops on your hair after washing for extra shine and to balance frizziness.
The ultimate moisturizer: It’s also an excellent healer for dry cuticles, hands, and feet. Soak your hands, feet or cuticles in warm water for 5 to 10 minutes. After, rub a drop of oil into cuticles, or use 5 to 6 drops for hands and feet to nourish dry skin. Applying one drop of jojoba oil to chapped lips will add instant relief, and the waxy substance will also further protect your skin from the elements. The vitamin E rich oil is also meant to calm sunburn, soften the appearance of scars, and help heal wounds.
