This $9 Lipstick Collection Has A Shade For Everrryone!
Lipstick has to be one of the most powerful items in my makeup kit – the right shade will not only completely transform your look but your mood too. This is especially true for red lipstick, it’s so empowering and sexy! Morphe’s latest drop of five fiery red lipsticks are brought to life by ultimate babe, Nikita Dragun, and they couldn’t have chosen a better person to do it! I love how fierce Nikita looks in the campaign – she’s like a badass draguness – and it made me so excited to try these five new Mega Matte Lipsticks from Morphe.
What it is: A long-wearing, pigmented lipstick in five sexy shades of red.
Tease – A very bright, coral red shade, that will look amazing on olive and deeper complexions.
Lover – Super red, and exactly the shade I think of when people say bright red lipstick. It’s the kind of shade that will look stunning on most people as it has neutral undertones.
Dominate – This is my fav shade, it’s a true rich red with subtle cool-red undertones.
Steamy – The ultimate cherry red shade with a subtle blue undertone.
Morphe – The deepest shade with a very pure rich undertone.
What we liked: First off, I think the shade collection is bomb and Morphe did a really good job of creating five very different, gorgeous reds. Some people might think they look quite similar in tone, but the jump between the lightest and darkest shade just illustrates how necessary the shades in between are; especially as red is a shade a lot of people are intimidated by. I love that with this collection, there’s definitely a shade that will suit everyone. The lipstick formula is VERY pigmented, and literally, one swipe gives insane color payoff. I actually really liked the finish of these, it was very matte, had minimal transfer for a lipstick, and they lasted a really long time!
What we didn’t like: I didn’t find these very creamy – more on the dry side – so you might feel like these are dragging a little. I actually didn’t mind the texture though, and I found it really easy to line my lips with them; you just need to apply some pressure when you’re using them.
My tips: For slightly easier application, use a lip balm and then blot your lips before you apply the lipstick. I would also recommend using a pencil lip liner, not a lip liner with a waxy base, as this could make your lips feel drier.
The verdict: I really love these! The shades are beautiful, the packaging is really lux, and for $9, these are intensely pigmented and have very impressive payoff.
